Abstract

The process is for the production of screw thread forming dies. A rotary shaping tool is formed, with first and second groups of alternate lands and grooves of the same pitch on a cylindrical surface. The shaping tool is so applied to the work as to form between the two groups an additional land (8) or groove of different pitch. The tool thus produced is then used to produce the thread-forming die, or an intermediate shaping tool to produce the latter. The additional land or groove can be either of coarser or finer pitch than the rest, being produced in two parts.
