Abstract

The stool is for use as office or kitchen furniture etc, having a seat with or without adjustable backrest, and a telescopic column adjusted by hand lever and comprising two tube sections fitting closely one inside the other. The outer tube has a far-shaped foot with or without castors, and the inner one is supported in it by means or a coil spring. The inner tube (4) has spaced round its periphery at the lower end a series of apertures (4'), with steel balls sliding horizontally in them (10). A separate cylindrical body (11) in this tube has a tapered lower end (11') and slides up and down under the action of the hand lever (5). The tapered portion thrusts the balls outwards, thus locking the inner tube in any desired position in relation to the outer one.
