Abstract

Machine for grinding tube ends, e.g. glass fibre-reinforced plastic tubes, to a conical shape has a centring mechanism that can be clamped in the tube end and an arm that rotates around the centring mechanism, and carries the work-tool. The centring mechanism has an outer bush with an external thread for effecting the relative displacement of one of the two clamping flanges, and an internal thread for cooperating with an inner bush that supports the arm carrying the work-tool, so that the latter is rotated into engagement with the tube end. Enables tube ends to be ground externally to a conical shape with a very small top angle, e.g. 5 degrees.
