Abstract

Liquid phase isomerisation of ethylenically unsatd. >=5C hydrocarbons (I) by contacting them at >=150 degrees C (esp. 275-350 degrees C) with is not >100 ppm (esp. 15-75 ppm) of an iron carbonyl (esp Fe(CO)5) and under a partial CO pressure of >=10 atm. abs (esp. 15-25 atm. abs) and opt. separating the solid materials formed by filtration. The process is esp. useful for shifting the double bond in >=12 esp. >=20C n-alkenes giving products useful as raw materials for the prodn. of washing agents and branched acids.
