Abstract

Mechanical removal of 'spin cakes' formed by the centrifugal collection of filaments in the spinning cages or buckets or bowls in plants for producing textile yarns, particularly from artificial fibres, e.g. viscose rayon fibres, by supporting at least one mechanism or head, which has been introduced into the axial interior space of a spin cake, is in engagement with the inner wall thereof, for withdrawal of the spin cake from the bucket and which is coupled with elements for gripping, unlocking, and removing the cover of the bucket, by a drive system which imparts to it a reciprocating motion over a mixed linear path. The first and last parts of this path are vertical and rectilinear and coincide with the motion of the axial withdrawal of the spin cake from the bucket as well as the axial withdrawal of the head from the cake after removal, while in the intermediate part of the path the cake is transferred from a position above the bucket to a position removed from this for storage and transport for further processing.
