Abstract

An isolated roof construction comprising roof timber (l) and a gutter (2) at a lower end of the roof timber (1), wherein on 5 top of the roof timber (1) one or more isolation plates (3) are provided, and wherein a support construction (6) for the gutter (2) is provided at said lower end of the roof timber (1), wherein on top of the one or more isolation plates (3) a water guide (5) is provided that terminates beyond the support construction 10 (6) and above the gutter (2).

Description

An isolated roof construction
The invention relates to an isolated roof construction comprising roof timber and a gutter at a lower end of the roof timber, wherein on top of the roof timber one or more isolation plates are provided, and wherein a support construction for the gutter is provided at said lower end of the roof timber.
Isolated roof constructions are known, and are many times developed from a roof construction that is not yet isolated, and comprises roof timber and a gutter below the roof timber. When such a not yet isolated roof construction is isolated, one or more isolation plates are provided on top of the roof timber.
This usually requires that the gutter will be re-arranged with a newly provided support construction, in order to bring the gutter in line or at the proper altitude for the collection of rain or dripping water from the tiles that are or will be provided on top of the one or more isolation plates. This poses however a problem since without further measures water may unintentionally get into the region of the newly provided support construction for the gutter. This is of course detrimental to the longevity of the entire construction, leading to unexpected costs for the house owner. The purpose of the invention is to improve the longevity of the construction and to save on costs for the house owner.
According to the invention and isolated roof construction is proposed with the features of other more of the appended claims.
In a first aspect of the invention on top of the one or more isolation plates a water guide is provided that terminates beyond the support construction and above the gutter. This ensures that water cannot drip into the region where the support construction is provided, which is the root cause of the above pictured problem.
It is preferred that the water guide comprises a watertight foil extending in a lower region of the one or more isolation plates, which watertight foil ends above the gutter. Watertight foils are already applied in the construction industry, and are relatively inexpensive. It requires therefore no particular further elucidation for the skilled person to apply such
- 2 = watertight foils in the manner as proposed by the invention.
To secure a proper positioning of the watertight foil on top of the one or more isolation plates, it is desirable that the foil connects to a metal mounting piece, which mounting piece is rigidly placed or placeable in a slit of the one or more isolation plates.
To promote the longevity of the construction it is preferred that the metal connection piece is an aluminum connection piece.
The invention will hereinafter be further elucidated with reference to the drawing showing a roof construction without isolation is known from the prior art, as well as an exemplary embodiment of a roof construction according to the invention that is not limiting as to the appended claims.
In the drawing: — figure 1 shows a roof construction according to the prior art without isolation; - figure 2 shows an isolated roof construction according to the invention; and - figure 3 shows detail A of figure 2.
Whenever in the figures the same reference numerals are applied, these numerals refer to the same parts.
Referring first to figure 1, it shows a roof construction comprising roof timber 1, at a lower end of which is provided a roof gutter 2.
Such roof timber 1 and roof gutter 2 are also present in the roof construction of the invention which is shown in figure 2. Furthermore the roof construction of the invention is provided with one or more isolation plates 3 that are placed on top of the roof timber 1. The isolation plates 3 are provided with slats 4 that will eventually support the roof tiles that will be mounted on top of the isolation plates 3.
The roof construction shown in figure 2 further comprises a support construction 6 for the gutter 2, which support construction is provided at said lower end of the roof timber 1. This is what normally is done for the conversion of a roof construction without isolation as depicted in figure 1, into a roof construction with isolation as is shown in figure 2.
The feature that differentiates the isolated roof
- 3 = construction of the invention from the prior art isolated roof construction is that on top of the one or more isolation plates 3 a water guide 5 is provided that terminates beyond the support construction 6 and above the gutter 2.
Preferably the water guide 5 comprises a watertight foil 5’ extending in a lower region of the one or more isolation plates 3, which watertight foil ends above the gutter 2. Further it is preferred that the watertight foil 5’ connects to a metal mounting piece 57, which mounting piece 5'’' is rigidly placed or placeable in a slit 3’ of the one or more isolation plates 3. This is best shown in figure 3. The metal mounting piece 5'' is preferably an aluminum mounting piece.
Embodiments of the present invention can include every combination of features that are disclosed herein independently from each other. Although the invention has been discussed in the foregoing with reference to an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the invention is not restricted to this particular embodiment which can be varied in many ways without departing from the invention. The discussed exemplary embodiment shall therefore not be used to construe the appended claims strictly in accordance therewith. On the contrary the embodiment is merely intended to explain the wording of the appended claims without intent to limit the claims to this exemplary embodiment.
The scope of protection of the invention shall therefore be construed in accordance with the appended claims only, wherein a possible ambiguity in the wording of the claims shall be resolved using this exemplary embodiment.
Variations and modifications of the present invention will be obvious to those skilled in the art and it is intended to cover in the appended claims all such modifications and equivalents. Unless specifically stated as being “essential” above, none of the various components or the interrelationship thereof are essential to the operation of the invention. Rather, desirable results can be achieved by substituting various components and/or reconfiguration of their relationships with one another.
Aspects of the invention are itemized in the following section. 1. An isolated roof construction comprising roof timber (1) and a gutter (2) at a lower end of the roof timber (1), wherein on top of the roof timber (1) one or more isolation plates (3) are provided, and wherein a support construction (6) for the gutter (2) is provided at said lower end of the roof timber (1), characterized in that on top of the one or more isolation plates (3) a water guide (5) is provided that terminates beyond the support construction (6) and above the gutter (2). 2. The isolated roof construction of claim 1, characterized in that the water guide (5) comprises a watertight foil (5') extending in a lower region of the one or more isolation plates (3), which watertight foil (57) ends above the gutter (2). 3.
