BACKGROUND The invention relates to a bracket for mounting a tube to a wall.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A known mounting bracket for mounting a tube to a wall comprises an engagement device for engaging around the tube, and a mounting base that is connected with the engagement device for mounting the mounting base to a wall or ceiling by means of an elongated threaded mounting anchor. The threaded mounting anchor 1s with one end screwed into a hole in the wall, and with its opposite end it is inserted through a mounting bush of the mounting base. The mounting bracket is secured with pairs of nuts around the threaded mounting anchor that confine the mounting bush. A disadvantage of the known mounting bracket is that the application of pairs of nuts on the threaded mounting anchor is laborious, as one of the nuts needs to be placed around the threaded mounting anchor before the mounting bush is slid over it, while the other nut needs to be placed and tightened thereafter. It is an object of the present invention to provide a mounting bracket that can be easily installed by means of an elongated threaded mounting anchor.
The invention provides a mounting bracket for mounting a tube to a wall or a ceiling, wherein the mounting bracket comprises an engagement device for engaging around the tube, a mounting base that is connected with the engagement device and a mounting clamp that cooperates with the mounting base for mounting the mounting bracket to an elongated threaded mounting anchor on the wall or «ceiling, wherein the mounting base comprises a first insert channel and a second insert channel for insertion of a threaded mounting anchor in its elongated direction, wherein the first insert channel and the second insert channel are orthogonal to each other, wherein the mounting clamp receives the mounting base and is provided with a first threaded retainer for engaging a threaded mounting anchor from aside and a second threaded retainer for engaging a threaded mounting anchor from aside, wherein the first threaded retainer is provided with a first engagement face having threads that fit into the threads of the threaded mounting anchor that extends through the first insert channel and the second threaded retainer is provided with a second engagement face having threads that fit into the threads of the threaded mounting anchor that extendsthrough the second insert channel.
The mounting bracket according to the invention comprises a first insert channel and a second insert channel for insertion of an elongated threaded mounting anchor.
The insert channels are orthogonal to each other so as to receive the threaded mounting anchor in two directions.
This is favorable for the mounting versatility of the mounting bracket, as it can be decided on site whether to mount the tube by means of a threaded mounting anchor that is secured in a vertical wall or in a horizontal ceiling.
The threaded mounting anchor is secured in the chosen first insert channel or second insert channel by placing the mounting clamp onto the mounting base, wherein the applicable first threaded retainer or second threaded retainer is secured by engagement of the threadsthereof.
In an embodiment the mounting clamp receives the mounting base by displacing the mounting clamp with respect to the mounting base in a displacement direction that is orthogonal to the first insert channel and the second insert channel, whereby the mounting clamp can be placed with oversight with respect to the applicable threaded mounting anchor.
In an embodiment the mounting clamp engages the mounting base in a defined standby position in which the first threaded retainer and the second threaded retainer are positioned spaced apart from the threaded mounting anchor that extends through the first insert channel or the second insert channel, and a defined final mounting position in which the first threaded retainer and the second threaded retainer engage the threaded mounting anchor that extends through the first insert channel or the second insert channel. The mounting bracket can then be supplied to a plumber with the mounting clamp preassembled in the standby position. After insertion of the applicable threaded mounting anchor the mounting clamp only needs to be displaced into its final mounting position to secure it to the threaded mounting anchor.
In a combined embodiment the mounting clamp is displaceable from the standby position to the final mounting position in the displacement direction.
In an embodiment the mounting base and the mounting clamp comprise multiple hooks and engagement edges for locking engagement with the hooks at the cooperation of the mounting clamp with the mounting base. The hooks and engagement edges can provide a snap connection which can be easily verified by hearing a click.
In an embodiment the mounting base and the mounting clamp comprises a series of hooks or engagement edges for locking engagement with the hooks in the standby position and in the mounting position, whereby both snap connections can be verified by hearing a click.
In an embodiment the mounting base is provided with the hooks and the mounting clamp is provided with the engagement edges.
In an embodiment the mounting base comprises a first mounting ring that bounds the first insert channel, wherein the first threaded retainer engages the threaded mounting anchor aside the first mounting ring.
In an embodiment thereof the mounting base comprises two first mounting rings spaced apart from each other that bound the first insert channel, wherein the first threaded retainer engages the threaded mounting anchor between the first mounting rings. The two first mounting rings keep the threads of the threaded mounting anchor exposed to enable the first threaded retainer to engage it in the first insert channel.
In an embodiment the mounting base comprises a second mounting ring that bounds the second insert channel, wherein the second threaded retainer engages the threaded mounting anchor aside the second mounting ring.
In an embodiment thereof the mounting clamp comprises two second threaded retainers that engage the threaded mounting anchor at opposite sides of the second mounting ring, whereby the second threaded retainers can maintain the orientation of the engaged threaded anchor with respect to the second insert channel.
In an embodiment the mounting clamp comprises a curved base wall that bounds an insert space that is open towards the mounting base for receiving the mounting base.
In an embodiment thereof the first threaded retainer is located in the insert space.
In an embodiment the second threaded retainer is located in a distal front edge of the curved base wall.
In an embodiment the first engagement surface and/or the second engagement surface has a U-shaped cross section to receive and partially surround the engaged threaded mounting anchor.
In an embodiment the engagement device comprisesa first closure and a second closure that are moveable between an open position in which a tube can be inserted in the engagement device, and a cooperating position in which the engagement device engages around the tube.
5 In an embodiment the first closure comprises a base band and a series of ratchet teeth on the base band, wherein the second closure comprises a base band and a hook tooth for locking cooperation with the ratchet teeth of the first closure. The cooperating hook tooth and ratchet teeth enable a quick closure of the engagement device, which closure secures itself and can by tightened further when necessary.
In an embodiment the first closure comprises a first finger grip and the second closure comprises a second finger grip whereby the engagement device can be tightened by manually pinching the finger grips towards each other.
In an embodiment the engagement device comprises a spring section between first closure and second closure, which can bias the engagement device around the tube to be mounted.
The mounting bracket is preferably manufactured with a form stable plastic, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or a polyamide (Nylon).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Figures 1A~1C show a mounting bracket 1 according to an embodiment of the invention for mounting a schematically indicated «cylindrical tube 100 having a straight centreline S. The cylindrical tube 100 is for example a plastic or metal tube for passage of flue gas from a central heating device, or for feeding combustion air to that central heating device, or for domestic ventilation. The cylindrical tube 100 typically has a diameter of 80-150 millimetres and may be provided with a widened or flared tube fitting 101 to receive the opposite end of a next tube 100, The tube 100 can be mounted along a vertical wall 200 or along a not shown horizontal ceiling as explained hereafter. The mounting bracket 1 is made of a form stable plastic, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or a polyamide (Nylon), and comprises a mounting base 10 for mounting the mounting bracket 1 to the wall 200 or ceiling. The mounting base 10 merges into an engagement device 50 for engaging tightly around the tube 100. The mounting bracket 1 comprises a separate mounting clamp 80 for cooperation with the mounting base 10. The mounting base 10 comprises a straight base plate 11 that projects from the engagement device 50, and multiple first reinforcement ribs 12 and shorter secondreinforcement ribs 13 at the opposite sides of the base plate 11 that extend parallel to each other and that project from the base plate 11. The mounting base 10 comprises a straight reinforcement wall 15 that extends between the first ribs 12 and second ribs 13 and that merges into the base plate 11. The first reinforcement ribs 12 and the second reinforcement ribs 13 are extended by two first mounting bushes or mounting rings 20 that project spaced apart from each other from the reinforcement wall
15. The first mounting rings 20 together bound a first insert channel 25 with a centerline Q for insertion of a first elongated threaded mounting anchor 110 that is mounted into the wall. The centerline Q of the first insert channel 25 extends orthogonal to the centerline S of the tube 100 to be mounted. The mounting base 10 comprises four first hooks 35 that project outwardly from the reinforcement wall 15 at the position of the first mounting rings 20, and two second hooks 36 on the upper side only that both project from the first mounting rings 20, that are positioned spaced apart from the first hooks 35 further away from the engagement device 50 and that are aligned with the first hooks 35 at the upper side. The mounting base 10 comprises a second mounting bush or mounting ring 30 that at one side merges into the middle of the reinforcement wall 15 and that extends through the base plate 11. The mounting ring 30 bounds a second insert channel 31 with a center line R for insertion of a second elongated threaded mounting anchor 120 that is mounted into the ceiling. The centerline R of the second insert channel 31 extends orthogonal to the centerline Q of the first insert channel 25 and parallel to the centerline S of the tube 100 to be mounted. The threaded mounting anchors 110, 120 are for example a straight screw pin having a pointed distal screw thread end 111 that merges into a rod with a metric thread 112, or for example a rod with a continuously metric thread 121, wherein the metric threads 112, 114 are for example M3or M10 threads. The mounting clamp 80 is also shown in more detail in figures 2 and 3. The mounting clamp 80 comprises a curved base wall 81 having a general U-shaped curvature to bound an insert space 82 that is open at its distal end for partial engagement around the mounting base 10. The base wall 81 merges in the insert space 82 into a first threaded retainer 83 that projects from the base wall 81. The first threaded retainer 83 comprises an engagement face 86 having an U-shaped cross section with a semi-cylindrical bottom and having threads that fit into the external threads 112 of the first threaded mounting anchor 110. The mounting clamp 80 is provided with four locking apertures 84 in the base wall 81 that are present on both and opposite sides of the first threaded retainer 83. The locking apertures 84 are bounded by straight locking edges 35 that are positioned to be engaged by the first hooks 35 and the second hooks 36. The mounting clamp 80 comprises two second threaded retainers 88 that merge into the middles of the distal edges of the curved base wall 81. The second threaded retainers 88 each comprise an engagement face 90 having an U-shaped cross section with a semi- cylindrical bottom and having threads that fit into the external threads 121 of the second threaded mounting anchor

The mounting clamp 80 is provided with multiple curved reinforcement ribs 89 that extend parallel to each other at the outer side of the curved base wall 81 and that merge into the second threaded retainers 88 and the curved base wall 81. The mounting clamp 80 can be installed by displacing it in pushing direction P over the mounting base 10 as shown in figure 1A, wherein the pushing direction P is orthogonal to the centerline QO of the first insert channel 25 and orthogonal to the second insert channel 28. The pushing direction P is orthogonal to the center line S$ of the tube 100 to be mounted. The two second hooks 36 at the upper side enter the locking apertures 84 first,
wherein the second hooks 36 engage the locking edges 85 as shown in figure 1B. This is a preassembled stable standby position in which the second hooks 36 prevent that the mounting clamp 80 disengages from the mounting base 10 and in which the first threaded mounting anchor 110 and the second threaded mounting anchor 120 can still be slid in and through the insert channels 25, 31 as the threaded retainers 83, 88 are positioned spaced apart from the threads 112, 121 thereof. After insertion of the threaded mounting anchors 110, 120 the mounting clamp 80 can be slid further in the pushing direction P into its final mounting position as shown in figure 1C. In this final mounting position the first threaded mounting anchor 110 or the second threaded mounting anchor 120 is engaged by the applicable threaded retainer 83, 88, which engagement is locked by engagement of the locking edges 85 by the first hooks 35.
The engagement device 50 comprises in circumferential direction around the center line S of the tube 100 to be mounted subsequently a first closure 51 that merges via a living hinge 55 into a curved wall 52 along the mounting base 10, a tube fitting holder 53, a spring section 54, and a second closure 55 that can be locked onto the first closure 51.
The first closure 51 comprises a flat and cylindrically curved base band 56, a first finger grip 57 that projects outwardly {from the base band 56, and a reinforcement rib 58 that extends along the center of the base band 56 and that merges into the middles of the first finger grip 57 and the base band 56. Beyond the finger grip 57 the first closure 51 is provided with a central rib 60 that projects {from the base band 56, and a series of ratchet teeth 59 on both sides of the central rib 60 that extend transverse to the longitudinal direction of the base band 56.
The tube fitting holder 53 comprises a base plate 61 that merges into the curved wall 52 and two oppositeedges 62 that project in the same direction transverse from the base plate 61. The opposite edges 62 are mutually positioned to engage a widened or flared tube fitting 101 of the tube 100 to be mounted to prevent it from sliding out of the mounting bracket 1 in the direction of its centerline S.
The spring section 54 comprises a spring band 63 that merges at one side into the base plate 61 of the tube fitting holder 53. The spring band 63 1s in this example provided with two wave shaped curvatures 64 to provide resiliency in the circumferential direction around the centerline S of the tube 100 to be mounted.
The second closure 55 comprises a flat and cylindrically curved base band 65, a second finger grip 66 that projects outwardly from the base band 65, and a not shown reinforcement rib that extends along the center of the base band 56 and that merges into the middles of the second finger grip 66 and the base band 65 in the same manner as the reinforcement rib 58 of the first closure 51.
At the inner side the second closure 55 comprises two hook shaped hook teeth 67 for cooperation with the ratchet teeth 59 of the first closure 51, wherein the hook teeth 67 define a passage 68 in between for receiving the central rib 60 of the first closure 51. The second closure 55 is provided with side reinforcement ribs 70 that extend between the hook teeth 67 and the base band 65. When the hook teeth 67 have engaged onto the ratchet teeth 59, the first finger grip 57 can only be moved closer to the second finger grip 66 in a closing direction C. Movement in the opposite direction is only possible by disengaging the hook teeth 67 from the ratchet teeth 59. The first finger grip 57 and the second finger grip 66 are mutually curved outwards away from each other to facilitate easy manual gripping thereof between a thumb and a finger.
The mounting bracket 1 is provided to a plumber with the mounting clamp 80 in the preassembled stable standby position as shown in figure 1B, in which the secondhooks 36 prevent that the mounting clamp 80 disengages from the mounting base 10. The plumber can position the tube 100 and provisionally place the engagement device 50 loosely around the tube 100 to determine the exact position of a hole 201 to be drilled in the wall 200 or in the ceiling for mounting the necessary first threaded mounting anchor 110 or the second threaded mounting anchor 120. After drilling the hole 201 and optionally inserting a suitable wall plug in the hole 201, the tube 100 and the mounting bracket 1 are placed at the intended position and the first threaded mounting anchor 110 or the second threaded mounting anchor 120 is inserted in the applicable first insert channel 25 or second insert channel 31 and mounted to the wall 200 or ceiling.
The first closure 51 and the second closure 55 are manually closed in the closing direction C until the engagement device 50 surrounds the tube 100, wherein the flared tube fitting 101 is engaged by the tube fitting holder 53. By closing the closures 51, 55 in the closing direction C the wave shaped curvatures 64 of the spring section 54 are slightly stretched to obtain a lasting tight and biased engagement around the tube 100. After insertion of the applicable first threaded mounting anchor 110 or second threaded mounting anchor 120 through the first insert channel 25 or second insert channel 30, the mounting clamp 80 can finally be clicked or pushed further by the plumber in the pushing direction P from the stable standby position into the final mounting position to engage the threads of the applicable first threaded mounting anchor 110 or second threaded mounting anchor 120. It is to be understood that the above description is included to illustrate the operation of the preferred embodiments and is not meant Lo limit the scope of the invention.
From the above discussion, many variations will be apparent to one skilled in the art that would yet be encompassed by the scope of the present invention.
