Description
DRIJFBAAR DRAAGSYSTEEM VOOR EEN AANTAL ZONNEPANELENFLOATABLE CARRYING SYSTEM FOR A NUMBER OF SOLAR PANELS
This invention relates on the one hand to a drivable support system for a solar panel assembly with at least a number of rows of solar panels placed side by side, comprising a drivable structure and a support structure mounted on this drivable structure which is provided for supporting the solar panel assembly. This invention relates in particular to a floatable carrying system which is provided for placement on a water surface, such as, for example, a lake, reservoir or drinking water reservoirs. This invention further relates to a solar installation built from such drivable carrying systems.
Een dergelijk systeem wordt bijvoorbeeld beschreven in de Amerikaanse octrooipublicatie US 2008/0029148.In recent years, a large number of solar installations have been installed, whereby a number of solar panels (such as photovoltaic panels, reflectors, lenses or other optical means) are placed on an underlying support structure. The current solar installations are mostly ground arrangements or arrangements on the roofs of private persons or company buildings. However, in many regions the soil is becoming scarce and fewer and fewer roofs are available, which forced them to look for other solutions to install solar installations. One of the ideas is to install solar installations on the water. On the one hand because there is a lot of water surface available and on the other hand because placing solar panels on water has a number of advantages, such as better cooling and therefore a higher electrical efficiency. To this end, a number of solutions have been worked out in the past, in which use is made of longitudinally extending floating elements on which a support structure for solar panels is then mounted. Such a system is described, for example, in the US patent publication US 2008/0029148.
However, it has been found that the systems known to date for placing solar panels on water are often complex in structure and therefore expensive and, moreover, difficult to maintain because their components or the solar panels themselves are difficult to reach.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a floatable support system for solar panels that is simple in construction, cost efficient and easy to maintain.
By using floating profiles that on the one hand ensure sufficient buoyancy so that the whole floats on the water, and on the other create a walkway between the different rows of solar panels placed next to each other, a support system is realized that is simple in construction and moreover allows the panels (or other components) are easily accessible for maintenance or repair work.
Each row consists of a number of solar panels placed next to each other, the solar panels are preferably mounted on the underlying support structure in portrait format. The advantage of portrait installation is that the panels are better flushed by precipitation and therefore have less problems with superimposed dust, which is detrimental to the efficiency. An additional advantage of portrait installation is that the distance between the water and the diode box of the panel is greater than with landscape installation, which benefits the electrical safety and proper operation. The panels can of course also be attached to the support structure in "landscape".
In a preferred embodiment of the support system according to the present invention, the aforementioned floatable profiles have a closed hollow interior. Preferably, the floatable profiles have a two-layer jacket surface. The floatable profiles are preferably made of plastic, such as for example polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride. Due to its composition, the profiles have the necessary flexibility, preventing damage during installation or use. This flexibility also ensures that the structure can move to a limited extent with the swell of the water, so that they do not create stresses in the structure. The profiles are also sufficiently rigid and rigid, so that they hardly deform when they are walked on.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, the upper surface of the floatable profiles forms the said walkway and the upper surface has a width that lies between 10 cm. and 80 cm.
The two-layer plastic jacket surface is manufactured by simultaneous extrusion of the inside and outside. Both layers are bonded together during a continuous process by heating.
In a more preferred embodiment of the support system according to the present invention, the floatable profiles are tubular profiles. The floatable profiles have a diameter in particular between 100 and 800 mm. and a length between 2 and 15 meters. The profiles have a round cross-section as standard, but alternative embodiments such as, for example, an angular cross-section are also possible.
According to a special embodiment, the floatable profiles are provided with a rib profile on their outside. Such a ridge profile ensures a better grip and stiffness of the profile.
In a more special embodiment of the drivable support system according to the invention, the support structure comprises a number of support profiles extending transversely to the drivable profiles and a number of support elements mounted on these support profiles which are provided for supporting and holding a solar panel in an oblique position. The supporting profiles are preferably made from aluminum, stainless steel or are galvanized. In a more preferred embodiment, they are made from extruded aluminum. The bearing profiles are preferably U, H or tubular profiles.
The support elements are preferably made from a pleated flat bar of aluminum, stainless steel or galvanized steel. It is possible to choose support elements in different lengths, which makes it possible to easily adjust the slope of the panels. In addition, the support elements can be positioned in such a way that the panels can be mounted on the floating profiles in an East - West version.
In an advantageous embodiment of the support system according to the invention, the support structure is connected to the drivable profiles via bracket elements. These bracket elements are preferably made from stainless steel, galvanized steel or aluminum.
According to a more advantageous embodiment of the support system according to the present invention, the support structure further comprises elastic coupling elements, for example manufactured from rubber, to connect different support systems to each other. These coupling elements are fixed in one direction between the support elements and in the other direction in a more advantageous embodiment, fixed between the lower of the two panel beams. Use is preferably made of elastic "Silent" blocks of rubber.
In a most special embodiment, the support system comprises one or more anchor elements for anchoring the support system. The support system is preferably anchored to the bottom or against the side of the water surface on which the support system floats. The anchoring is worked out for each project but mainly consists of a series of cables or ropes that must hold the system in place. It is also possible to provide so-called floating anchor elements on the system. This consists of a cloth that is mounted in loop form around one or more floating profiles and that hangs in the water. The water between the canvas and the water surface then serves as a ballast (anchor) for the system. Short impulses that the system has to endure are solved in a very simple way. Moreover, the anchor system can be designed in such a way that the entire floating system focuses on the position of the sun during the day in order to achieve a higher efficiency through better direct radiation.
Another subject of this invention relates to a solar installation comprising a number of connected drivable carrying systems as described above.

The floatable profiles (4) are made of plastic such as, for example, polyethylene, polypropylene or PVC, and have a lockable or sealed hollow interior. The lateral surface of the profiles (4) can optionally be made up of several, preferably two, layers. Due to their composition, the profiles have the necessary flexibility, preventing damage during installation or use. This flexibility also ensures that the structure can move to a limited extent with the swells of the water, so that they do not create tensions in the structure. The profiles are also sufficiently rigid and rigid, so that they hardly deform when they are walked on.
The floating profiles (4) are standard 2 to 15 meters long and usually have a round or angular cross-section. Figure 9 shows a number of possible embodiments. The diameter of the profiles or the width of the top surface must be sufficiently large (or wide) to allow the user to run on the profiles (4) without risk. In practice, the diameter or the width of the top surface is usually between 100 and 800 mm. In order to have more grip, the floatable profiles can be further provided with a corrugated profile on their outside.
De drijfbare profielen (4) zijn via beugelelementen (7) verbonden met de draagprofielen (5).As is apparent from, inter alia, Figures 1 and 2, the support structure (3) is composed of a number of support profiles (5) extending transversely to the drivable profiles (4). These support profiles (5) are preferably made from aluminum, extruded aluminum, stainless steel or are galvanized. The bearing profiles are preferably U-shaped, H-shaped or tubular profiles. The drivable profiles (4) are connected to the bearing profiles (5) via bracket elements (7).
Supporting elements (6) are mounted on the support profiles (5) as explained, inter alia, in Figures 5, 6 and 8. This can be done via a bolt connection. The support elements (6) are provided for supporting and keeping a solar panel (2) in an inclined position. In practice, two sets of support elements (6) are used which are provided at a certain distance from each other. Here, the support elements (6) of the first series are shorter in length than the support elements of the second series, so that it becomes possible to adjust the inclination of the panels easily. As standard, but not limited to, the panels (2) are placed under a slope of 12 °, 15 ° or 18 °, and this depending on the location (latitude) of the project.
The support elements (6) are preferably made from a flat bar made of aluminum, stainless steel or galvanized steel, which is folded into the desired shape.
On top of the support elements (6) and in a direction perpendicular to the support profiles (5), there will then be two panel beams (9) per row of panels (2). These beams (9) are also profiles made of aluminum, stainless steel or galvanized steel. The panels (2) are mounted sufficiently close to each other on or in these beams (9). A little more space is only needed between the different support systems (1) (so that the panels of adjacent support systems do not collide with each other when the water is swelling). This limits the water surface required per installed capacity. This is in contrast to alternative solutions where all panels move relative to each other and therefore more space must always be provided.
The support system (1) according to the present invention is, as appears from the above description, a number of components that can be easily connected to each other, whereby the system can be mounted and installed in a short time.
The drivable support system (1) according to the present invention can be perfectly regarded as a modular system. For this purpose, as clearly visible on figures 3 and 4, coupling elements (8) are present, which allow to connect different support systems (1) built up according to this invention. The coupling elements (8) are preferably placed at the height of the end of a support profile (5) or the panel girder (9). Figures 7 and 10 to 13 show a number of possible embodiments of a solar installation (11) composed of different interconnected (or connectable) support systems (1) according to the invention. Such an installation can then be anchored on one side or at the bottom via one or more anchor elements (10). The anchoring can vary with each project but mainly consists of a series of cables or ropes that must hold the system in place. It is also possible, as shown in Figure 14, to provide so-called floating anchor elements (10) on the system. This consists of a cloth that is mounted in loop form around one or more floatable profiles (4) and that hangs in the water. The water between the canvas and the water surface then serves as a ballast (anchor) for the system.
