Abstract
Description
GEAUTOMATISEERD IDENTIFICATIE SYSTEEM VOOR DIERENAUTOMATED IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR ANIMALS
The present invention relates to a device for the automated identification of an animal.
The increasing administrative procedures on paper in animal husbandry with regard to the registration of cattle, imposed by the government, leads for the owner of the cattle in question to an ever increasing amount of time and increasing costs. In addition, the current paper administration is very sensitive to errors and fraud. The control of the administration by the government institutions is also costly and takes a lot of manpower and time.
The state of the art with regard to the registration of animals relates to the provision of an identification system in the ear of an animal. This identification system is also referred to as an ear tag. On 15 ear-tags are mentioned a multi-digit unique company number (UBN) of the cattle farmer and a serial number which indicates the animal. This data will hereinafter be referred to as the identification data. This ear tag is confirmed two days after the birth of an animal and the data must be entered on a registration card. In the case of pre-purchase, periodic registration, transport, slaughter and death of the animal, this information must also be entered on other registration forms and / or passed on by telephone.
The ear tags can also be provided with a barcode 25 which codes for the identification data on the ear tag.
This data is read by a barcode reader and stored in a computer. However, reading this data with the help of a barcode reader is very difficult if the animals are in the pasture because of the mobility of the animals and the reading at a short distance, with large quantities of animals due to the J,> ? I; *, 2 keep track of which animal is already registered, with dirty ear tags in connection with optical reading, and with aggressive animals.
There is thus a need for an automated identification system which does not use a bar code in order to avoid the above problems.
In animal husbandry, in particular with horses, cows and tide pets, a chip is used with the identification data encoded thereon. This chip is inserted subcutaneously as described in Dutch patent application 8701027. A disadvantage of this system is that the said chip is not always encapsulated at the point of insertion, but can spread in the body, which causes problems in reading the chip because after all it is not always known where the chip is located in the body at the time of reading. In addition, the subcutaneous application of a chip entails additional costs.
In particular in horses, the chip is applied to the mane to prevent these problems, but this solution is very specific in nature and therefore cannot be used in general.
The chip can also be arranged in a collar which is attached to the animal. However, this collar must always be adjusted as the animal grows and is furthermore susceptible to fraud because the collar can easily be attached to an animal other than the intended animal.
Dit doel wordt bereikt met de inrichting volgens conclusie 1.It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a device for automated identification of an animal in which the aforementioned problems are solved. This object is achieved with the device according to claim 1.
33
The device according to claim 1 of the present invention for the automated identification of an animal is characterized by: a) a chip in which identification data for the identification of an animal can be stored; b) an ear tag identifiable to which said chip is attached; c) a reading device for reading identification data stored on said chip; and d) a processing device for processing and / or processing and / or storing the identification data obtained from said reading device.
In addition to automated identification of an animal, it is also important for efficient management that certain physical characteristics of the animal are registered together with the identification data such as, for example, weight, size, volume and so on. This registration makes it possible for the farmer to accurately follow the growth and the state of health of the animal and, if necessary, to adjust his management accordingly. In addition, a registration of this data is linked to the identification data for the livestock farmer of importance for transport, slaughter, grazing, breeding and sale.
However, currently maintaining this data requires a large paper administration, making it virtually impossible to determine and keep such data for each individual animal.
Om bovengenoemde problemen op te lossen verschaft de onderhavige uitvinding een aanvulling op de geautomatiseerde 5 identificatie inrichting zoals weergegeven is in conclusie 2.To solve the above problems, the present invention provides an addition to the automated identification device as shown in claim 2.
The device according to claim 1 can be expanded with one or more automated measuring systems for determining one or more physical characteristics of the animal.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to a drawing and some embodiments. The figure is only given as an illustrative example and not to limit the embodiments of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of the present invention. 1: a detection mat with a detection loop integrated therein; 2: a scale; 3: an ear tag with a chip attached thereto with the identification data; 4: a guiding device; 5: a processing device coupled to the detection mat and the scale.
The identification data stored on the chip can be in any form, but for the Netherlands it is preferred that these identification data comprise the UBN.
The identification mark (3) can be in any form, but for the Netherlands it is preferable that this is the ear tag.
The reading device can be any kind of reading device that is generally used for reading chips. These are often based on the principle that the chip is activated by a transmitted electromagnetic pulse generated by a loop, after which the chip transmits the read data received by the same loop.
,·· , ' Λ 5, ··, 'Λ 5
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, this loop is located in a detection mat (1). This detection mat is placed on the ground after which the animals are guided over this mat, possibly with the aid of a guiding device (4).
This detection mat (1) is easily movable, making it possible to also use the identification system in, for example, loading and unloading livestock transport, in the pasture and in the control of livestock transport by the government.
The reading device delivers the read identification data to a processing device that processes and / or processes and / or stores the data. It is preferred that this processing device is a computer (5), as a result of which it is also possible to also exchange this data electronically with, for example, the slaughterhouse, the government and other cattle farmers, and to print the data.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to re-use the chip.
In the practical situation it often happens that an ear tag is released from the animal. As a result, the eartag has become useless, but due to the reuse of the chip, the registration costs for the farmer 25 can be reduced.
In another preferred embodiment, the chip is removable from the ear tag. This not only has the advantage that the chip is easier to reuse, but also facilitates archiving by the farmer after the death or slaughter of the animal.
The automated measuring systems according to the present invention can be any system that determines a physical property of the animal, but preferably 6 is a measuring system (2) that automatically determines the weight of the animal.
By determining the identification data of the animal with the weight of the animal coupled thereto, for example, the farmer can easily determine the growth, health, selling price and slaughter weight of the animal and adjust his business operations accordingly.
The device according to the present invention is preferably used for the identification of horses, ponies, cows, sheep, goats, deer, roe deer, rabbits, and pigs, but it is obvious to a person skilled in the art that the application of the present invention is not limited is up to this group of animals.
The present invention further relates to a method for using the device according to the present invention. The method comprises guiding an animal, optionally with the aid of the guide device (4) to the reading device which subsequently determines the identification data of the animal and which are subsequently processed by the processing device.
In addition, the animal can then be guided to one or more automated measuring systems for determining one or more physical characteristics of the animal. This data is then read out by the processing device which combines the data with the identification data.
^Finally, the invention relates to the use of the invention. The use preferably relates to the use of the present invention in animal husbandry. The invention can easily be applied by its embodiment to many places, such as, for example, the stable, the whey, during the loading and unloading of livestock transports, the slaughterhouse, at livestock markets, at inspections, at shows, at the control of the government of the livestock, in emergencies such as the outbreak of a contagious disease and so on yy: vl · ,. ^
