Abstract

It is an object of an absorbent article of the present invention to provide the absorbent article that is able to adequately exhibit an original absorption capacity of an absorbent core while also being able to stably inhibit fluid leakage such as excreted fluid and mustiness when worn, and that has both stable absorption capacity when worn and satisfactory comfort by preventing fluid leakage and mustiness. Specifically, an absorbent body (13) includes: an absorbent core (15) that absorbs and retains fluids, extending in the lengthwise direction of the absorbent body (13), and a cover sheet (16) having liquid permeability, wrapping the outer surface of the absorbent core (15) around an axis line in the lengthwise direction of the absorbent core (15). The cover sheet (16) has an extension section (18) extending from an edge in the widthwise direction of the absorbent core (15), where an inner surface is in mutual non-contact with surfaces of the liquid-permeable sheet (11) side and the liquid-impermeable sheet (12) side of the absorbent core (15). An absorbent material (19) having a liquid absorbing property is bonded to the inner surface of the extension section (18) by an adhesive.
