Abstract

The present invention refers to a method to regenerate a mixed bed filter, wherein a separation of exhausted ion exchanger material (40) into anion exchanger material (41) and cation exchanger material (42) is carried out in a first container (1), wherein a material interlayer (46) is formed in between the anion exchanger material (41) and the cation exchanger material (42), and wherein the anion exchanger material ( 41) as well as the cation exchanger material (42) is regenerated in the first container (1). In this method, a mixed zone (44) comprising the material interlayer (46) is defined after regenerating the ion exchanger material (41, 42); the anion exchanger material (41) adjacent to the material ( 43) of the mixed zone ( 44) is transferred into a second container (2); the material (43) of the mixed zone (44) is transferred into a third container (3); and the regenerated cation exchanger material (42) remaining in the first container ( 1) is combined and mixed with the regenerated anion exchanger material (41).
