Abstract

This invention relates to a disk type cylinder lock (30) where the core (20) could remain idle. This is useful in preventing unauthorized forced opening or damaging of the lock (30) with the use of incorrect key or a non key object. The lock (30) of this invention is provided with a structural configuration that enables the rotatable disks (6) to remains idle, said structural configuration comprises a rotatable indexing disk (10 2), an indexing dowel (4), a spring (5), a plurality of rotatable disks (6) and a plurality of fixed disks (7). The rotatable indexing disk (2) is provided with arc shaped notches (11) on the circumference edge and indentations (16) on one of the surface. The rotatable disks (11) also have arc shaped notches (11) on the circumferential edge that cooperatively receives the latch (8) of the lock (30). When an incorrect key or non key object is turned in the key hole, the pressure exerted by the indexing dowel (4) on the indentation (16) as a result of the urging force of the spring (5) would be overcome by the turning force of the non key object. Consequently, the indentation (16) dislodges from the indexing dowel (4) and rotates with the non key object, resulting in free spinning of the non key object. Since the latch (8) remains embedded in the groove (10) and the slot (12) on the body (9) and the cylinder (3) respectively, the cylinder (3) remains not turnable. In this way, the lock (30) could not be opened nor damaged.
