Abstract

Provided is a steel material for a welded structure excellent in atmospheric corrosion resistance that is suitably used as a steel structure for outdoor use such as a bridge, in particular, a member required to have atmospheric corrosion resistance under a high airborne salinity environment, for example, in the vicinity of seashore, the steel material having a chemical composition including, by mass%, 0.02%?C<0.14%, 0.05%?Si?2.0%, 0.2%?Mn?2.0%, 0.005%?P?0.03%, 0.0001 %?S?0.02%, 0.001 %?A1?0.1%, 0.1 %?Cu?1.0%, 0. 1 %?Ni?1.0%, the chemical composition further including at least one selected from: 0.004%?Nb?0.2%; and 0.001 %?Sn?0.2%, and the balance being Fe and incidental impurities, in which Cu, Ni, and Sn are contained in amounts satisfying a predetermined relation.
