Abstract

The present invention provides a binder composition for making foundry moulds capable of producing a mold having a high final strength and good depth hardenability as well as improving the mold in hardening speed; and a method for producing a mold, using this composition. The binder composition for making foundry molds of the present invention is a binder composition for making foundry molds comprising a specific acid-hardening resin, the specified amount of the rosin-modified maleic acid resin having an acid value of 70 mgKOH/g or more. The method for producing a mold comprising the step of hardening a mixture comprising refractory particles, the binder composition for making foundry molds of the present invention, and a hardener.
