THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR THE BLEACHING OF PAPER PULP WITH ONE OR MORE PEROXIDE OXIDIZING AGENTS, IN WHICH THE PULP IS FIRST TREATED IN A RETREATMENT STEP WITH AT LEAST ONE INORGANIC MAGNESIUM DERIVATIVE COMBINED WITH AT LEAST ONE CARBOXYLIC ACID OR ITS SALT, EXCEPT ITS MAGNESIUM SALT, OR WITH AT LEAST ONE CARBOXYLIC ACID AT LEAST PARTIALLY SAPONIFIED WITH MG2+, THE CARBOXYLIC ACID BEING SUBSTITUTED BY AT LEAST ONE ELECTRODONATING GROUP OR COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE CARBON-CARBON DOUBLE BOND.
