THE INVENTION PERTAINS TO A DEVICE FOR HOT-DIP COATING A METAL BAR (1), IN PARTICULAR , A STEEL STRIP , WHEREIN THE METAL BAR (1) IS VERTICALLY CONVEYED THROUGH A RECEPTACLE (3) CONTAINING THE MOLTEN COATING METAL (2) AND THROUGH A PRECEDING GUIDE CHANNEL (4),AND WHEREIN SAID DEVICE COMPRISES AT LEAST TWO INDUCTORS (5) THAT ARE ARRANGED TO BOTH SIDES OF THE METAL BAR (1) IN THE REGION OF THE GUIDE CHANNEL (4) AND SERVE FOR GENERATING AN ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD IN ORDER TO RETAIN THE COATING METAL (2) IN THE RECEPTACLE (3). IN ORDER TO EFFORTLESSLY COLLECT THE MOLTEN COATING METAL,IN PARTICULAR, IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, THE DEVICE ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION IS CHARACTERIZED IN THAT AT LEAST TWO SHUTTERS (6) IN THE FORM OF FLUID GUIDE PLATES ARE ARRANGED TO BOTH SIDES OF THE METAL BAR (1) AND UNDERNEATH THE GUIDE CHANNEL (4), WHEREIN SAID SHUTTERS CAN BE SELECTIVELY POSITIONED IN AN OPEN POSITION (A),IN WHICH THEY ARE NOT IN CONTACT WITH THE METAL BAR (1), OR IN A CLOSED POSITION (B), IN WHICH THEY ADJOIN THE METAL BAR (1).
