Abstract

A TWIN-WHEEL MECHANISM, ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION, CAN BE FITTED TO EITHER THE FRONT-WHEEL POSITIONS OR THE BACK-WHEEL POSITIONS OF A MOTOR VEHICLE FOR USE IN ROUGH TERRAIN, SUCH AS A PLANTATION. THE MECHANISM TAKES THE SHAPE OF A RIGID TRIANGULAR CONTAINER (3). THE EXPOSED END OF A POWER SHAFT (1) APPEARING ON ONE SIDE OF THE CONTAINER (3) IS CONNECTABLE TO THE POWER AXLE OF THE VEHICLE.THE EXPOSED ENDS OF TWO EXTENSION AXLES (4, 5) APPEARING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CONTAINER (3) ARE EACH MOUNTABLE WITH A WHEEL. THE TWO EXTENSION AXLES (4, 5) ARE DRIVEN BY THE POWER SHAFT (1) VIA TWO SPROCKET MEANS (11, 12) AND CHAIN DRIVES (31, 32). THE POWER SHAFT (1) IS SUSPENDABLY CARRIED BY A PAIR OF BRACKET MEANS (2), THE UPPER ENDS OF WHICH ARE AFFIXED TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE.(FIGURE 1A)
