Abstract

AN INJECTOR 10 PREFERABLY USED FOR INJECTING PHOSPHATE COMPOUNDS INTO AVOCADO TREES IS OF SYRINGE- LIKE CONFIGURATION AND COMPRISES AN INJECTOR BODY 11 HAVING A VARIABLE VOLUME INTERNAL CHAMBER 12. A THREADED OUTLET NOZZLE 13 LOCATED ON ONE END OF THE INJECTOR BODY COMMUNICATES WITH THE CHAMBER 12. A PLUNGER 14 DEFINES AN END WALL OF THE CHAMBER 12 AND IS RECIPROCALLY SLIDABLE WITHIN THE CHAMBER 12 TO VARY THE VOLUME OF THE CHAMBER 12. AN END CAP IS 16 IS RELEASABLY CONNECTED TO THE OTHER END OF THE INJECTOR BODY 11 AND A SPRING IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE END CAP 16 AND THE PLUNGER 14 SO AS TO MAINTAIN A BIAS FORCE ON THE PLUNGER 14 THROUGHOUT ITS OPERATIVE RANGE. A PISTON ROD EXTENDING FROM THE PLUNGER 14 CAN BE ROTATED TO LOCK THE PLUNGER IN A RETREATED POSITION. THE INJECTOR PROVIDES A CONTINUOUS RATE OF INJECTION AND REQUIRES LITTLE SURVEILLANCE. (FIG. 1)
