Abstract

According to the invention a toilet comprising a seat area (1) and bowl is designed in such a way that the seat area (1) has an extension (5) which makes it possible to sit on said extension (5) facing towards the bowl. In this way, especially male users of the toilet are able to sit on the extension(5) during urination. This prevents unnecessary dirtying of the toilet.

Description

RETREAT WITH SEAT AND BOWL There are many types of toilet designs depending on the cultural region in question. The invention that follows refers to a toilet with a seating area on which the user can sit, and also to a toilet bowl or similar structure for collecting feces. This is the most common type of toilet used in Europe and it is well known.
However, it is also well known that these toilets, especially in private homes, are also used to urinate in these. Because most men urinate standing up, it is almost impossible to keep the area around the toilet, and in particular the toilet seat, free of urine splashes.
The purpose of this invention is therefore to improve the shape of the common toilet so that a man can urinate without fouling the seat or the surrounding area.
This has been achieved by extending the seat which allows the user to sit facing the toilet bowl.
This extension of the toilet seat makes it possible for a man to sit facing the toilet bowl ie with the toilet seat between the legs.
This very simple alteration to a common toilet seat allows men to urinate the toilet bowl without having to pull their pants down. When a man sits in this extension piece the distance to the toilet bowl is reduced by increasing the accuracy of his aim. This also reduces the amount of urine that splashes around the toilet bowl.
In this way the present invention is the answer to an old problem, of which housewives and cleaning personnel in particular are aware.
The toilet seat also has an additional use: it is an ideal toilet seat for children. The extension piece can be used as a child seat or as a handle when sitting in the toilet in the normal position. Precisely this use as a handle makes the toilet seat ideal for disabled people, because it provides additional security when sitting in the toilet.
The possibility of sitting on your back in the toilet in front of the bowl also makes it easier for people in wheelchairs to get to the toilet seat and, especially, to slide back to their wheelchairs.
Initial tests have shown that sitting on the back in the toilet facilitates completely emptying the bladder and provides a good positioning of the back which has special psychological benefits.
It is advantageous if this extension piece is integrated with the toilet seat. Toilet seats are well known and common. They are made of a material that is less able to conduct heat than the bowl itself making the seat area more comfortable. If the extension piece is part of the toilet seat it offers the same comfort as the seat itself and is especially simple to manufacture. The new structure of the toilet seat means that conventional toilets can be easily and economically retrofitted.
The extension piece can alternatively be part of the upper edge of a toilet bowl. This has the advantage that the extension piece then has a greater load bearing capacity and there are many possible ways by which this extension piece can be formed. For example, it can be made in the shape of a lion's head, where a man can sit on top of the toilet bowl.
It is also beneficial if the extension piece tilts slightly upward away from the toilet bowl. This angle offers a particularly better sitting position on the extension piece and makes it easier to grasp the extension piece when sitting in the toilet in the conventional manner.
A padded extension piece offers a special comfort. Such cushioning can be made of an easy to clean material making it hygienic.
When joining the extension piece to the toilet it is particularly advantageous if it has hinges. The extension piece can be folded out to make it possible to sit in the toilet in the conventional manner. The extension piece can be easily removed to allow men to urinate while they are sitting. However, it should be emphasized that an extension piece that can not be folded out also allows men to sit in the toilet in the usual way. For this reason, the extension piece has been made wide enough so that it does not cause problems when sitting in the toilet in the normal way: it is positioned between the legs of the user.
The diagram shows two possible ways in which the invention can be formed and these are described in more detail below: Figure 1 shows an aerial view as a whole of a conventional toilet, wherein the extension piece forms part of the toilet seat; Figure 2 shows an aerial view as a whole of an alternative design, wherein the extension piece is integrated forming part of the upper edge of the toilet bowl; Figure 3 shows an aerial view as a whole of another design with a toilet seat in an oval shape; Y Figure 4 shows a side view of the toilet seat shown in Figure 3.
With the toilet 1 shown in Figure 1, the bowl 3 of the toilet is below the seat area 2.
In this example, seat area 2 is a rim-shaped toilet seat which can be placed on the upper rim of the toilet bowl. The toilet seat 2 is connected to the toilet bowl 3 by hinge means 4, which makes it possible to lift the toilet seat. The extension piece 5 is positioned on the toilet seat 2 opposite the hinge 4 and forms part of the toilet seat. Toilet seat 2 in the shape of a ring. This extension piece projects out of the bowl 3 of the toilet and is large enough to serve as a seat. This seat is large enough for a man to sit on the extension piece 5 facing the hinge 4 with the bowl 3 of the toilet between his legs. On the other hand, the extension piece 5 is small enough to not cause problems when the user sits on the toilet seat in the conventional manner with his back towards the hinge 4.
Figure 2 shows an alternative version of this invention. The toilet seat 21 is likewise positioned above the upper edge of the bowl 3 'of the toilet. However, the toilet seat 2 'is of a conventional design and the extension piece 5' is part of the toilet bowl itself. The toilet seat 2 'is connected to the bowl 3' of the toilet by means of a hinge 4 '. The extension piece 5 'is attached to the toilet bowl on the side opposite the hinge. The extension piece 5 'enlarges the upper edge of the bowl 3' of the toilet and it is possible to sit on the extension piece with the toilet seat between the legs of the user. In this example the extension piece 51 of the bowl 3 'of the toilet has a cushion 6' which provides more comfort when sitting on the extension piece.
When the toilets provided with this invention are used, the man especially has to sit on the piece 5 or 5 'of extension with one leg on each side of the bowl 3 or 3' of the toilet. While the toilet seat shown in Figure 1 has to be unfolded so that the extension piece can be used as a seat, the toilet seat shown in Figure 2 can be left unfolded or raised.
To make the retrofitted toilets particularly comfortable to use, the edges 7, 8 or 7 ', 8' of the seat have a concave shape on both sides of the extension piece. When the extension piece 5 is not being used as a seat it can be folded by means of the hinge 9.
The toilet shown in Figure 3 shows the toilet seat area 2 'with a toilet seat in an oval shape. This oval shape is not only attractive, it is extremely robust. This design also proves that a small extension piece 5 is sufficient to serve the intended purpose of this invention.
In Figure 4 the extension piece 5 '' is at a slight angle with the toilet bowl. There is an angle of approximately 150 to 160 ° between the level of the toilet seat area and the extension piece 5".
