Description
URNA OUE HAS COMPARTMENT FOR MEMORABLE OBJECTS
FIELD PE A INVENTION This invention relates in general to burial urns and, more particularly, to an urn with a compartment for memorable objects that is part of it.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The current urns, whether made of wood or metal, do not provide any compartment or receptacle of easy access intended either for the placement of personal effects of the deceased or to include there same commemorative memories placed by the family of the deceased or from your friends. The previous approaches to solve this problem have generally been the placement of a small box for commemorative souvenirs inside the urn along with the deceased. However, these boxes for commemorative souvenirs frequently appear as a late idea, since they are simply placed next to the deceased within the urn in a somewhat casual way. In this way, a designated receptacle or compartment that is an integral part of the urn that could be used by the family has not been provided for

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring first to Figure 1, an urn 10 constructed in accordance with the principles of the present invention is illustrated. While the urn 10 is presented
P1538 / 97MX
as if it were made of wood, it can be appreciated that the present invention may include wooden urns or metal urns. Referring now to the Figure, the ballot box 10 includes an urn body 12 and a pair of lids 14 and 16, divided in half and pivotally attached to the body, by means of hinges or other mechanisms known to those of skill in this art. countryside. The arms 18 connect a handle bar 20 to the side walls 22 of the body of the urn. The body 12 includes conventional interior decoration components such as the large body 24, a small body 26, a pad 28 and the like. The lid 14 includes side edge pieces 30, 30, a front end edge piece 32, secured to the upper ends of the side edge pieces 30, 30, and a header shelf 34 secured to the lower ends of the edges. pieces 30, 30 of lateral edge. A decorative plate unit 36 includes a cover plate 38 and cushioned peripheral parts 40, placed around the perimeter of the header panel 38 and installed inside the front end cover 14. The rear end cap 16 may include a similar decorative interior but is not shown in Figure 1. The rear end cap 16 similarly includes side edge pieces 50, 50,
P153T / 97MX
rear end edge part 52 secured to the lower ends of the side edge parts 50, 50, and a header shelf 54 secured to the upper ends of the side edge parts 50, 50. A crown 56, which would normally be secured to the upper edges of the edge pieces 50, 50, 52 and to the head shelf 54, is in this case pivotally attached to the rear side part 50 by means of hinges 58. A strut 60 of the crown holds the crown 56 in the upward position, as shown in Figure 1. A suitable knocker 62 and 64 can be mounted on the side edge piece 50 and the crown 56 to secure the crown 56 in the lower closed position. By pivotally moving the crown 56 upwardly away from the reach of the lid 16, a tray 70 for memorable objects is discovered, which is located within the edge pieces 50, 50, 52 and the header panel 54. The tray 70 for memorable objects is preferably made of plastic, for example of HDPE that can be incinerated, and can include a plurality of compartments containing memorable objects, for example two rectangular compartments 72 and 74. The tray itself may include a convex upper surface 76 for preservation within the internal concave surface 78 of the crown 56.
P153B / 97MX
Alternatively, the surface 76 could be matched with the top edges of the side part pieces 50, 50, with the end edge piece 52 and the head shelf 54. The tray 70 generally press fit within the side edge pieces 50, 50, the end edge piece 52 and the head shelf 54. While the knocker 62, 64 is illustrated on the front or facing the side of the urn, this locking structure could either be placed centrally on the front end of the crown 56 or at the rear end of the crown 56 Referring now to Figure IA, another tray 90 is illustrated that could be installed in the box of Figure 1. Tray 70 includes a paired upper surface 92 and three receptacles or compartments 94, 96, 98 for memorable objects. The front end compartment 94 and the rear end compartment 98 are preferably one inch deep and the intermediate compartment 96 is preferably four inches deep. The intermediate compartment 96 may be deeper than the rear end compartment 98, which is generally located directly on the feet of the deceased within the urn 10. When the body of the supporting structure of the urn 10 is raised to its maximum position, compartment 98 of a
P1538 / 97MX
inch deep still provides the minimum space required on the feet of the deceased. However, the intermediate compartment 96 is located just in front of the feet of the deceased and, therefore, can be substantially deeper, for example, about four inches deep, as described above. The front end compartment 94 is preferably made of the same depth as the rear end compartment 98 to make the tray 90 aesthetically symmetrical. With reference to Figure IB, another tray 100 is illustrated that can be included in the urn of Figure 1. The tray 100 in the same manner includes a generally flat upper surface 102, the three receptacles 104, 106 and 108 being for objects Memorable similar to those illustrated in Figure IA. However, in addition the tray 100 includes curved side walls 110, 110 and curved end walls 112, 112. Instead of snapping into the side edge pieces 50, 50, the end edge piece 52 and the top wall 54, the tray will be installed from below the lid 16. The free edges of the walls 110 and 112 can be secured to the edge pieces 50, 50 and 52 and to the top wall 54 by means of any suitable mechanism, for example slotted or using
P1538 / 97MX
wooden pegs or their like, placed under pressure within the holes of the parts 50, 50, 52 and of the upper wall 54, in this way the free edges of the walls 110, 112 of the tray 100 will be held after the upward installation within the lid 16. The underside of this tray form 100 could be made to have the appearance substantially similar to the platen 36 of the front end lid 14, including the lid shelf 38 and the padded pieces 40 peripheral to present the same general decorative view, when the lid 16 moves upwardly pivoting. With reference to Figure 2, where the same reference numerals are used to indicate like elements, a second embodiment of the lid compartment for memorable objects is illustrated. In this embodiment, the crown 56 is slidably mounted to the edge pieces 50, 50, 52 and to the top wall 54 by means of tongue and groove joints or the like thereof. In this embodiment, any of the alternative shapes of the tray 90 and 100 illustrated in the figures may be used. ÍA and IB, respectively, these have flat upper surfaces and are placed paired with the upper edges of the parts 50, 50, 52 and the upper part 54. With reference to Figure 3, where
P1538 / 97MX
they use the same reference numbers to indicate equal elements, a third modality of the lid compartment for memorable objects is illustrated. In this embodiment, the front end cap 14 is provided with a drawer 120 that moves in a pivoting manner. The drawer is linked by means of pivots at its lower end 122 to a portion of the lid 14, for example to the shelf 38 of the lid, by means of hinges or other means known to those skilled in the art. The drawer 120 that moves in a pivoting manner will preferably be generally triangular in transverse form, with a front wall 124, a pair of opposite side walls 126 of triangular silhouette and a rear wall 128. The access to the interior of the drawer 120 that moves in a pivoting manner is obtained, first, by bringing the lid 14 pivotably upwards relative to the body 12 towards its open position and, then, by actuating the drawer 120 in a downward pivoting manner with relation to the crown 56 towards its open position. With reference to Figure 4, a fourth embodiment of the lidded compartment for memorable objects is illustrated in a metal urn 140. A sliding drawer 144 is located in the rear end cap 142 of the case 140. Figure 4A illustrates the construction of the lid 142 to thereby accommodate the drawer 144. The head
P1538 / 97MX
146 includes the opening 148 for accepting an internal compartment 150 having a shoulder 152 that can be welded or bonded with epoxy in place against the head 146. The drawer 144 slides in and out of the interior of the compartment 150, and can be provided with a recess or groove 154 for grasping the drawer 144. Figure 4B illustrates this same embodiment but with a wooden urn. The lid 16 of the rear end has a front wall 54 with an opening 160 therein to accept the drawer 162, which may have one or more compartments or receptacles 164 and 166, which are generally two of the same size, as illustrated. A recess may be provided in the head 54, along the lower edge of the opening 160, to allow a person's fingers to maneuver below the lower edge of the front drawer 168 to pull the drawer 162 outwardly. An appropriate support structure such as a panel or panel or its like is underlying the drawer 162 to hold it when pushed inward. With reference to Figure 5, a fifth embodiment of the lid compartment for memorable objects is illustrated. This modality is substantially the same as the modality of Figure 4, especially the embodiment of Figure 4B, except that instead of the
P1538 / 97MX
front drawer 168 forms part of the front wall 54, when the drawer 162 is inserted or slides inside the lid 16, all or a portion of the front wall 54 is hinged, for example the portion 180 is hinged, at its lower end, to the front wall 54, by means of hinges or other conventional mechanism known to those skilled in the art, to provide access to a hidden drawer. In this way, the front wall 54 moves downwardly pivotably, or a portion of the front wall, for example, that shown in 180 moves downwardly pivotably, to provide access to a drawer located in the front. the opening 160 and normally hidden by the front wall 54. With reference to Figure 6, a sixth embodiment of the lid compartment for memorable objects is illustrated. In this embodiment, a capsule 200 is located in the padded piece 40. The capsule 200 generally has a quarter-circle cross section to match the padded piece 40 of quarter-circle cross-section. The capsule 200 will include a rear wall 202, a lower wall 204 and opposite walls 206. A transparent cover 208 is hingedly joined along its lower edge 210 to the lower wall 204 of the capsule 200, by means of hinges
P1538 / 97MX
or any other means known to those skilled in the art. By pivotally moving the transparent cover 208 access to the interior of the compartment 200 is achieved, as well as a continuous view of the memorable objects placed therein is achieved. With reference to Figure 7, a compartment body mode for memorable objects is illustrated. In this form of the invention, a tray 250 for memorable objects, having the compartments 252 and 254 similar to the tray 70 of Figure 1, is placed directly on the body 12 and is not installed on the rear end cover 16. Tray 250 can be held by the top of wooden pegs (not shown) inserted under pressure into holes (not shown) on the side of the urn body and on the side walls. Additionally, tray 250 may include the configuration of the compartment shown in the Figures. ÍA and IB. With reference to Figure 8, where the same reference numbers are used to indicate like elements, a second embodiment of the body of the compartment for memorable objects is illustrated. In this embodiment, the end wall 300 of the body is provided with a drawer 302 that moves in a pivoting manner from its
P1538 / 97MX
bottom edge 304 towards the end wall 300, by hinges or other mechanisms known to those skilled in the art. By pivoting the drawer 302 away from the end wall 300, access is provided to the interior 306 of the drawer 302. With reference to Figure 9, where the same reference numerals are used to indicate like elements, illustrates a third embodiment of the body of the compartment for memorable objects. In this embodiment, the end wall 300 of the body is provided with a sliding panel or panel portion 310, which slides relative to the reach of the end wall 300 to provide access to the interior 312, normally hidden by the portion 310 panel or sliding panel. With reference to the Figures. 10A-E, six forms of a fourth embodiment of the body of the compartment for memorable objects are illustrated. In this fourth embodiment, a decorative border of the urn is movably mounted to a portion of the walls of the urn body and usually conceals a compartment behind them. The decorative border can be moved from a first position in which the compartment is hidden, to a second position in which the compartment is exposed. The edge can be mounted by means of pivots, movably mounted or mounted in a manner
P1538 / 97HX
removable to the walls of the body of the urn. In a form as shown in Figure 10A, a base mold 350 is pivotally moved from its lower edge 352 toward the end wall 300, by means of hinges or any other mechanism known to those skilled in the art. By pivotally moving the base mold 350 away from the end wall 300, the interior 354 of the compartment is exposed. In a second form, which is shown in Figure 10B, a fin or a lock gusset 360 that is pivotally moved from its lower end 362 to one of the walls of the box, by means of hinges or other means known per se. knowledge those qualified in the art. With reference to the Figures. 10C-E, three other forms of the invention are illustrated using decorative edges movably mounted to form the body of the compartment for memorable objects. In Figure 10C, a corner 370 including the walls 372 and 374 that move pivotably from the end wall 300 of the body to the edge 376 of the wall 372, by means of hinges or any other method known to those skilled in the art. the art. By pivotally moving the corner 370 away from the wall 300 access is provided to the interior 378 of the compartment. Figure 10D is similar, except that the corner 380 is in a receptacle
