Abstract

A lidded drum of synthetic material includes a clamping ring of metal for fastening the lid on the upper drum rim, wherein the clamping ring is U-shaped in cross section and engages in the closed state with its upper leg over the lid rim and the lower leg engages under an annular contact surface of a border of the drum wall. The contact surface extends perpendicularly or obliquely relative to the longitudinal axis of the drum. The contact surface is arranged below the upper drum rim and constitutes the upper limitation of an indentation in the upper portion of the drum wall. The lid rim formed by an inner rim, an outer rim, and a connecting ring, has a U-shaped cross sectional profile which is open toward the bottom and includes a sealing bed for placing or foaming a lid seal therein, wherein the lid seal is pressed in the closed state of the drum lid by the clamping force of the clamping ring against the upper lid rim. An annular bead is integrally formed on the connecting leg of the upper and lower legs of the clamping ring, wherein the annular bead is directed radially inwardly and, when the clamping ring is closed, the annular bead rests in a positively engaging manner against the outer rim of the lid for securing the lid on the upper lid rim.

Description

BARREL WITH LID | DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to barrels with lid made of synthetic material, with a metal clamp to hold the lid of the barrel on the upper edge of the barrel, being that the clamp of U-shaped cross section grabs above the edge of the lid with its upper wing and with its lower wing an annular support surface of a barrel liner encircling perpendicular or inclined to the longitudinal axis of the barrel, which is disposed below the rim barrel upper and constitutes the upper limit of a sinuosity in the upper section of the barrel liner, and wherein the edge of the cap formed by an inner edge, an outer rim and a connecting ring has a cross section profile with U-shape open downwards with a joint housing for placing or applying with foam a seal of the lid which in the closed state of the lid of the barrel is tight against the top edge of the lid by the clamping force of the clamp. In lid casks of this type known from US 5 301 853 the sealing effect of the lid of the barrel is effected by the axial pre-tension of the lid seal resting on the upper edge of the barrel, the force being of axial pre-tension is produced by closing the clamp through both of its inclined wings that slide over the edge of the lid and the barrel fence. In the barrels of lid admitted to store and transport dangerous liquids there are certain requirements in relation to their storage and transport security, which are verified by pre-written admission tests in which the cap barrels are submitted among other things to a lateral fall on the shirt, to a diagonal fall on the edge of the cover, to a static internal pressure test and to a pile load. In the lid cask according to US 5 301 853 the necessary resistance of the ring is obtained by a relatively large sheet thickness of the clamp, which upon falling the barrel, for example, from the loading surface of a truck. load avoids the imperfections of the lid of the barrel and when the barrel falls from a higher height it avoids that the lid of the barrel comes off due to deformations of the clamp. In this known lid cask, the weight of the clamp is disadvantageous by virtue of the relatively large material thickness and its high manufacturing price. The object of the invention is to refine the lid cask of the type under consideration with a view to sealing the lid of the barrel in the event of a fall of the barrel from medium and greater heights. In accordance with the invention, this problem is solved by a lid cask having the features of claim 1. The dependent claims contain favorable and convenient improvements of the invention. The lid casing according to the invention made of plastic with a metal clamp for fixing the lid of the barrel on the upper edge of the barrel is distinguished from the lid casks known for better resistance to falls and a clamp with lower thickness of material, which leads to a reduction in the weight of the clamp, and due to the saving of material leads to a lower manufacturing price of the clamp. ? Below, two embodiments of the lid cask according to the invention are explained by means of the figures of the drawing, which represent the following: Fig. 1 a side elevation view of the lid cask, and Figs. 2 and 3 representations in FIG. section amplified in cutouts of the upper region of the lid cask with two different embodiments of the closure by means of clamp of the barrel lid. The lid barrel 1 made of plastic according to figure 1 consists of a barrel jacket 2, a lower base 3, a lid 4 of barrel and a metal clamp 5 for fixing the lid 4 on the upper edge 6 of the barrel. In the two barrel embodiments depicted in Figures 2 and 3, the bracket 5 having a profile with a U-shaped cross-section grabs the edge 8 of the barrel with its upper wing 7 and with its lower wing 9 grasps below an annular contact surface 11 extending inclined to the longitudinal axis 10-10 of the barrel, of a rim 12 of the barrel liner 2 which is disposed below the upper edge 6 of the barrel and constitutes the upper limit of a sinuosity 13 in the upper section of shirt 2 of the barrel. The edge 8 of the cover formed by an inner edge 14, an outer edge 15 and a connecting ring 16 has a profile with a U-shaped cross-section open downwards with a housing 17 for sealing to be applied or foam-applied. lid gasket 18 which in the closed state of the lid 4 is pressed against the upper edge 6 of the barrel by the clamping force of the clamp In the first embodiment shown in FIG. 2 of the clamping closure of the barrel lid 4 form in the connection wing 19 of the upper and lower wing 7, 9 of the bracket 5 an annular bulge 20 oriented radially to the interior and that with the closed clamp 5 intervenes in a grip groove 21 configured in the outer edge 15 of the lid 4 to secure the lid on the upper edge 6 of the barrel. In the case of the bristle of the lid cask 1 from a height on the rim 8 of the lid the clamp 5 collapses and the annular bulge 20 of the clamp is pressed into the gripping slot 21 at the outer edge 15 of the rim 8 from the top. In this way the barrel lid 4 is better secured on the barrel edge 6 and consequently the resistance to the barrel falling is increased, it being possible to reduce the material thickness of the barrel. The second embodiment of a clamping closure of the barrel cover 4 according to FIG. 3 is characterized in that with the clamp 5 closed, the annular bulge 20 disposed therein for securing the barrel cover 4 on the upper edge 6. of the barrel attacks against a lower clamping ring 22 formed on the outer edge 15 of the lid.
