Abstract
Tecnicas para intentar eficazmente la adquisicion de un sistema de datos de paquete (por ejemplo, un sistema de IS-856). Si una terminal ha adquirido uno o mas canales en un sistema de voz/datos (por ejemplo, un sistema IS-2000), entonces puede intentar la adquisicion en canales en el sistema de datos de paquete que se co-localizan con los canales adquiridos en el sistema de voz/datos. Pueden utilizarse multiples modos de adquisicion, y los intentos de adquisicion en curso por los canales co-localizados puede realizarse utilizando un modo de adquisicion a la vez con objeto de reducir el consumo de potencia. Los intentos de adquisicion pueden realizarse a manera de "ping-pong" para mejorar la probabilidad de adquisicion. Para una busqueda de ping-pong, se realiza un intento de adquisicion en el canal mas recientemente adquirido antes de un intento de adquisicion en cada uno de los canales restantes.
