Abstract
H2S se retira de un gas rico en H2S (1) y azufre (60) se produce, por un proceso en donde el gas rico en H2S se reacciona con SO2 (24) en un reactor (101) en la presencia de un solvente organico y un catalizador. Vapores desprendidos que contienen H2S (5) se retiran del reactor (101) y se queman (104) para producir un gas de combustion rico en SO2 (10). De preferencia, los vapores desprendidos de reactor se queman con una cantidad sub-estequiometrica de oxigeno de manera tal que el gas de combustion tambien contiene vapor de agua y vapor de azufre. El gas de combustion se enfria por enfriamiento rapido directo (234) o termointercambio indirecto para producir una corriente acuosa (31) que contiene primordialmente agua, azufre solido suspendido y acidos politionicos (por ejemplo liquidos Wackenroder) y la corriente acuosa se utiliza para proporcionar enfriamiento para la reaccion H2S y SO2. Problemas asociados con la produccion y manejo de liquidos Wackenroder se superan y los valores de azufre en estos materiales se recuperan.
