Abstract
The feed reservoir holds a molten metal, e.g. steel, and comprises a refractory bottom, some refractory partitions, at least one nozzle, arranged in the refractory bottom in order to evacuate by flowing of the molten metal from the reservoir, and a refractory stopper (8). The stopper (8) incorporates a cavity (9) and is placed on the bottom of the reservoir. The cavity (9) receives the jet of molten metal from a ladle placed above the reservoir. The cavity (9) in the stopper (8) is formed by a stopper bottom (11) and an essentially vertical wall, the surface of the stopper bottom defining a convex volume, e.g. in the form of a pyramid or a cone. The reservoir incorporates at least one draining hole.
