Abstract
Un sistema de comunicaciones inalámbrico (1) tiene al menos una estacion de base, tal como una estacion de base personal (5), y una pluralidad de estaciones moviles (10) capaces de efectuar comunicaciones ranuradas inalámbricas con al menos una estacion de base personal. Un método incluye un paso de desactivar periodicamente, durante un período de tiempo predeterminado, un transmisor de la estacion de base (32) de transmitir una señal de RF a al menos una MS. El siguiente paso, ejecutado durante el período de tiempo predeterminado, opera un receptor de base de la estacion (34) para efectuar una medicion de la fuerza de la señal recibida (RSS). En una primer modalidad de esta invencion el paso de desactivacion incluye un paso preliminar de reservar una ranura invertida para ser usada por la estacion de base, asegurando por lo tanto que una estacion movil no transmitirá durante la ranura reservada. En este caso la medicion de RSS ocurre durante la ranura reservada. En una segunda modalidad de esta invencion el paso de desactivacion incluye un paso inicial de transmitir al menos un patron de datos de sincronizacion durante el intervalo predeterminado antes de desactivar el transmisor, permitiendo por lo tanto que una estacion movil mantenga la sincronizacion con la estacion de base aun cuando el transmisor sea interrumpido o apagado.
