Abstract

Una bolsa de refrigeración (10) para almacenamiento de las células sanguíneas se forma de dos hojas (11) de material unido mediante soldaduras (15, 18) que definen una zona de contención (19). Una bolsita (20) que lleva de la zona de contención (19) y en la soldadura (18) que define esta bolsita se encuentra un puerto de acceso (17). Un tubo de acceso (23) se sujeta al puerto (17) y se ubica normalmente dentro de los límites de una bolsa pequeña (21) formados por las extenciones de las hojas (11) más allá de la zona de contención (19). La presente invención se refiere a bolsas para su uso en la preservación de células sanguíneas. La sangre usada en las transfusiones se almacena normalmente en refrigeradores, a una temperatura de 4 grados- 2 grados, donde su vida límite no es mayor de seis semanas. Se puede obtener una vida de almacenamiento potencialmente más larga mediante la refrigeración, pero desafortunadamente el congelamiento de la sangre tal como se obtienen de un donador resulta en la destrucción de las células rojas de la sangre lo que hace que la sangre sea totalmente inadecuada para transfusión.
