Abstract
Se da a conocer un método. El método comprende los pasos que consisten en preparar un convertidor catalítico que necesita mantenimiento (108) de tal manera que a un substrato de catalizador (144) del convertidor catalítico (108) se le de mantenimiento mientras que el convertidor catalítico (108) permanece conectado a un sistema de escape (100) al formar una superficie inferior (10Bb) del cuerpo (124) del convertidor catalítico (108) con una ausencia de material con el propósito de proporcionar por lo menos una abertura (148, 148a, 148b) en la superficie inferior (108b) del cuerpo (124) del convertidor catalítico (108) para permitir el acceso selectivo a un pasaje de flujo de fluido (136) que se extiende a través del cuerpo (124) del convertidor catalítico (108) que contiene el substrato de catalizador (144); y disponer por lo menos un miembro de cierre (175, 175a, 175b) en por lo menos la abertura (148, 148a, 148b) para sellar herméticamente por lo menos la abertura (148, 148a, 148b).
