Abstract

La presente invención se refiere al campo de agricultura, más específicamente al uso de técnicas de biología molecular para alterar plantas que producen fibras, en particular plantas de algodón, y/o acelerar el mejoramiento genético de dichas plantas que producen fibras; se proveen métodos y medios para alterar las cualidades de las fibras, tales como el aumento de la resistencia de las fibras; se proveen también métodos para identificar marcadores moleculares asociados con la resistencia de las fibras en una población de variedades de algodón y plantas progenitoras relacionadas.
