Abstract

Se provee un codec de audio en el dominio de las frecuencias con la capacidad de soportar adicionalmente una determinada longitud de transformada de una manera inversamente compatible, gracias a lo siguiente: los coeficientes del dominio de las frecuencias de un marco respectivo son transmitidos de una manera entrelazada independientemente de la señalización que señala los marcos en cuanto a cuál longitud de transformada rige realmente, y adicionalmente la extracción de los coeficientes del dominio de las frecuencias y la extracción de factores de escala operan independientemente de la señalización. Gracias a esta medida, los codificadores/decodificador de audio en el dominio de las frecuencias, anticuados, no sensibles a la señalización, serian sin embargo capaces de operar sin defectos y reproduciendo una calidad razonable. Al mismo tiempo, los codificadores/decodificado res de audio en el dominio de la frecuencias capaces de soportar la longitud de transformada adicional ofrecerían una calidad aun superior a pesar de la compatibilidad inversa. En lo que se refiere a las penalizaciones en la eficiencia de la codificación debidas a la codificación de los coeficientes del dominio de las frecuencias de una manera transparente para decodificadores más antiguos, las mismas son de una naturaleza comparativamente menor debido al entrelazado.
