Abstract
Process for the manufacture of electrode/membrane assemblies (EMA), a base component of fuel cell technology of the polymeric electrolytic membrane type or proton exchange membrane type (PEM) which comprises slight films of from about 20 Ám to about 70 Ám of thickness, deposited over a polymeric membrane which acts as a gas separator, electric insulator and conductor of positive ions of H+, which forces the electrons to flow through the charge outer circuit from the anode to the cathode, being characterised in that it includes the following steps: a) surface treatment by membrane abrasion; b) Protonation and cleansing chemical treatment for activating the membrane; c) Application of electro catalytic ink by a spry over the sides of the membrane for generating porous electrodes and e) EMA thermo mechanical process for improving the EMA's performance.
