Abstract

Se describen composiciones adhesivas que comprenden copolímeros acrílicos formados a partir de una mezcla monomérica que comprende, con base en peso total de monómeros en la mezcla monomérica, de 59 a 97.9 por ciento en peso de acrilato de 2-etilhexilo, de 0.1 a 10 por ciento en peso de estireno, de 0 a 25 por ciento en peso de metacrilato de metilo, y de 2 a 30 por ciento en peso de acrilato de etilo, en donde la relación de acrilato de etilo y estireno (en peso) es mayor que 4.5 a 1. Se describen métodos para preparar composiciones adhesivas que comprenden alimentar una carga acuosa inicial a un reactor, calentar la carga acuosa inicial de aproximadamente 30 a 110°C, alimentar gradualmente una mezcla monomérica en un reactor durante un período de tiempo (menor de 3 horas), en presencia de un iniciador de polimerización por radicales libres, formando así la composición adhesiva acrílica, en donde la cantidad del monómero libre en el reactor no excede 17 por ciento en peso, con base en peso total de los contenidos del reactor, durante la alimentación gradual.
