Abstract

Un procesador de señal se configura para codificar una señal en una jerarquía que incluye múltiples niveles de calidad. El procesador de señal produce un rendimiento de la señal para al menos un primer nivel de calidad. El procesador de señal genera grupos de datos de reconstrucción que especifican cómo convertir el rendimiento de la señal en el primer nivel de calidad en un rendimiento de la señal en un segundo (mayor) nivel de calidad en la jerarquía, potencialmente apalancando las señales de referencia disponibles. De acuerdo con un arreglo, el procesador de señal utiliza el codificador de entropía para codificar los datos de reconstrucción. Con base en la información de distribución de probabilidad heredada de los niveles previos de calidad, el codificador de entropía codifica los datos de reconstrucción en un valor codificado o serie de bits. Con el uso de la información de distribución de probabilidad, un decodificador de entropía convierte el valor codificado o serie de bits de vuelta a los datos de reconstrucción.
