Abstract
A toy building set comprising a group of building elements, each having at least one ball 1, 2 arranged on the building element, and where the ball 1, 2 is connected to other parts of the building element via a connection rod 3, 4, and where the toy building set further comprises at least one element having a socket formed by two jaws 5, being arranged and adapted for receiving said ball 1, 2 in order to form a ball and socket joint, and where the cross section of the connection rod 3, from where it is connected to the ball 1 and at least a distance away from the ball 1, is smaller than the cross section of the ball 1, so that it gives a certain degree of freedom for the socket to rotate around the ball 1. The connection rods 3, 4 also comprise connections rods 4 having a relatively large cross section, so that the connection rods 4 with a relatively large cross section reduces the degree of freedom for the socket to rotate around the ball 2.
Description
A SET OF TOY CONSTRUCTION
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a toy building assembly comprising a group of building elements, each having at least one ball disposed in the building element, and wherein the ball is connected to other parts of the construction element. through a connecting rod, and wherein the toy construction assembly further comprises at least one element having a bushing arranged and adapted to receive said ball in order to form a ball joint, and wherein the cross section of the connecting rod, from where it is connected to the ball and at least a distance from the ball, is smaller than the cross section of the ball, so that it gives a certain degree of freedom to the cap to rotate around the ball, j
Thus it is possible, for example, for a child to construct constructions, such as toy figures having articulated body parts.
ANTECEDENTS OF THE TECHNIQUE (
An example of such a toy building assembly is known from European Patent Application No. 856341 which describes a number of separate building elements that can be connected through ball joints to form an articulated toy figure.
The problem with this type of toy building sets is that they do not provide many different ways to connect the separated elements to each other.
In relation to toy building sets, therefore, it is a constant challenge to provide such construction sets that give the possibility of constructing many different constructions or figures using the same basic elements.
This is achieved to some degree with the toy building assembly in accordance with U.S. Patent No. 579681, which discloses many different types of elements having complementary coupling balls and cams that can be connected together in many different ways to form figures or articulated constructions.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The main objective of the present invention is
provide a toy building set that gives
the user more different ways of constructing articulated figures that have different patterns of possible
movements.
This is obtained by the present invention in accordance with claim 1, which additionally
specifies that the group of building elements
comprises a first and a second type of connecting rods, and that the
First type of connecting rod, at least near the ball, has a cross section that is relatively larger than
i the corresponding cross-section of the second type of connecting rod, so that the relatively larger cross section of the first type of connecting rod reduces the gradient of
freedom in which the cap can rotate around a ball carried by the first type of connecting rod, that the degree of freedom in which the cap can rotate about a ball carried by the second type of connecting rod.
In this way the same bushing can be mounted on two different balls, both being connected to a
construction element by cranks with different cross-sections, and the degree of freedom in which the bushing can rotate around one of the balls will be more limited than the degree of freedom in which the bushing can rotate around the other ball. In this way it is possible, with a relatively limited number of different construction elements, to construct many different figures or constructions and at the same time to provide more different patterns of possible movement or articulation of the figure or construction.
In a preferred embodiment, the connecting rod has an axis of symmetry, and the axis of symmetry extends through the ball carried by the connecting rod.
In this relation the axis of symmetry can preferably extend through the center of the ball.
The group of building elements may comprise at least one construction element having both a first and a second type of connecting rods, each carrying a ball. In this way, the same construction element can provide more different patterns of movement or articulation.
A very simple element can be provided in this relation, if at least two of the balls are interconnected by a common connecting rod, and especially if the common connecting rod has one end forming the first type of connecting rod having its relatively larger cross section. near one of the balls, and another end forming
the second type of connecting rod that has its cross section
smaller near the other ball. |
A toy building assembly according to one or more of claims 4, 5 'or 6,
characterized in that the at least one of the elements
of construction has at least one ball that has
1 precision two rods of the first type extending from it.
In this relationship it is further possible that at least the other ball has only one of the
second type extending from it.
In a further preferred embodiment, | the bushing is formed by two elastic jaws, each having a concave coupling surface facing the other jaw, and having a spacing that ensures that
the coupling surfaces in the two jaws are
support against opposite sides of the ball, when the cap is mounted on the ball. :
In this relation, it is advantageous if the concave coupling faces in the jaws extend two lateral faces, and if the distance between the two
laterals, and the cross section of the first type of connecting rods are selected so that the jaws mounted on a ball carried by two of the first type of connecting rods having a common axis of symmetry, can rotate only around the common axis of symmetry of the two cranks of the first type.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
In the following, the invention will be described in greater detail with reference to the modalities shown by the appended figures. It should be emphasized that - the modalities shown are used only for example purposes and should not be used to limit the scope of the invention.
Figure 1 shows a simple construction constructed using one of each of the construction elements shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4.
Figure 2 is a side face of a first construction element according to the invention.
Figure 3 is a side view of a second construction element in accordance with the invention.
Figure 4 is a side view of a third construction element according to the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE MODALITIES
In Figs. 2, 3 and 4 modalities are shown
different building elements in accordance with
the present invention. From the description to
Then it will be evident to the expert that
many different modalities from those shown in the
Figs. 1, 2 and 3 are possible to suggest in order to
provide many different possibilities to build a toy construction, such as a toy figure
í or similar. j
In Figures 2 to 4, the construction element has a different number of balls 1, 2 which are connected to each other through two different types of connecting rods 3, 4, wherein the first type of connecting rods 4 has a
cross section that is larger than the cross section of the second type of connecting rods 3.
The modalities of conformity with Figures 3
and 4 have identical bushes each formed by two jaws 5 having a concave surface 6 designed
to provide a snap fit on any of the balls 1, 2, so that the bushing 5 can slide on any of the balls 1, 2 without being released from the
ball 1, 2. In Figure 3, the jaws are shown in a front view, and in figure 4 the jaws are shown in a side view.
In this way, the ball 1, 2 which is connected to a bushing will form an articulated ball joint, so that the building elements provide the possibility of constructing a number of different constructions or figures articulated using a variable number of construction elements in accordance with the invention.
As mentioned above, it will be possible for the skilled person to suggest other embodiments having more or less balls 1, 2 arranged in many different positions one with respect to another, and being fixed to each other in their relative positions by means of the two different connecting rods 3, 4. The two modes shown in Figures 3 and 4 show that the rods 3, 4 are arranged along the same axis of symmetry S shown by the dotted line, and in Figure 2 the rods 3, 4 are arranged along more lines of symmetry arranged in a common projection, and where only one is shown in the figure. It will be evident that the skilled person can propose other arrangements of lines of symmetry arranged in 2 or 3 dimensions without departing from the idea of the present invention.
In this relation, the construction element in accordance with Figure 2 is designed to be used
i as a body element to build a bone structure for a toy figure, and the building elements according to Figures 3 and 4 can be
I use to connect to the building element according to Figure 2 in order to form a bone structure for the parts of the extremities of the toy figure.
In Figure 4 a simple construction constructed using the building elements in accordance with Figures 2, 3, and 4 is now shown. The building element in accordance with Figure 3 is mounted on the building element in accordance with the Fiq. . 2 by adjusting the jaws 5 on a ball 1 which is carried by a connecting rod 3 having a relatively small cross section, and the construction element according to Figure 4 is mounted on a ball 2 which is carried by two connecting rods 4 which have a relatively larger cross section.
In this way the jaws 5 and therefore the construction element in accordance with Fig. 4 can, due to the relatively large cross section
small of the connecting rod 3, turn around the ball 1 in
t all directions, and with a high degree of freedom.
On the other hand, the transvenous section
relatively large of the cranks 4 carrying the ball 2
in the jaws 5 in accordance with the construction element shown in Figure 4, substantially only
allows this building element to turn around
of the symmetry axis S when sliding on the ball 2.
In this way, the building elements in accordance with the present invention provide more different options for constructing a large number of different constructions or figures.
