Abstract

Un sistema y método para proporcionar una abertura compacta del haz azimutal en una antena de banda ancha. El sistema comprende un primer elemento radiante colocado por encima de un plano a tierra y uno o más elementos pasivos colocados próximos a y/o alrededor del primer elemento radiante. Cada uno de los elementos pasivos tiene una ranura que se forma en ellos que está configurada para controlar la abertura del haz a través de un rango específico de frecuencias. En una modalidad, los elementos pasivos y las ranuras se pueden configurar para controlar el ancho de haz a través de rangos diferentes de frecuencias. Y en otra modalidad, otro elemento pasivo está colocado dentro de las ranuras para controlar la abertura del haz a través de otro rango de frecuencias.
