Description
PACKAGING SYSTEM FOR A COSMETIC SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is directed to packaging systems, in particular, packaging systems of a cosmetic system.
Typically, the packaging of a cosmetic or cosmetic systems comprises components that are packaged individually. Each of these components can then be placed in a case to represent a cosmetic system that includes at least two components that create a cosmetic effect. However, cosmetic systems put in a case have a disadvantage, since they have an unnecessary packaging and occupy a significant volume.
In addition, cosmetic systems known in the art provide separate cosmetic components, which may be lost.
Therefore, what is needed is a packaging system that has a reduced space with less packaging material.
These and other needs are satisfied by the present invention. Therein, a packaging system for a cosmetic system comprises a first container and a second container, the second container removably mounted in the first container. Each container comprises different cosmetic components, which together
They provide a cosmetic effect.
The second cosmetic container may be mounted in a closure, such as a removable cap provided in the first container. The second container may comprise a lid, for example, a snap closure, which has a nozzle for easy dispensing.

Figure la is a perspective view of a packaging system according to an embodiment of the present invention. Figure Ib is a perspective view of the packaging system of Figure 1 wherein a first container and a second container are separating. The Figure is a perspective view of the packaging system of Figure 1 wherein the first container and the second container are separated.
A multi-component cosmetic system 100 comprises a plurality of cosmetic components that are stored and transported in a small space packaging system. The packaging system 10 comprises a first container 20 and a second container 40, which is removably mounted in the first container, and can be separated as illustrated, for example, by Figures lb-lc, along a shaft through a closure.
In a state of assembly, for example, in Figure 1, the first container and the second container are joined together to form a small space packaging unit 60. The
The reduced space packaging unit 60 comprises a peripheral shape 60a that is substantially uninterrupted and is continuous between a base of the first container and the closure of the second container. The peripheral shape can comprise any suitable shape and size. Therefore, as illustrated herein, the peripheral shape 60a may comprise a substantially cylindrical shape that is constant in cross section and that is interrupted only in the interconnection 60b formed between the first container 20 and the second container 40.
Advantageously, the packaging unit 60 comprises less packaging material and can be easily transported and occupy less space than both containers would individually. Therefore, the packaging system 10 is more cost effective and ecologically responsible. In addition, once the packaging unit 60 is in the hands of a user, the combination of two components has an impact on the end user, is easy to handle and store, and maintains two separate components together easy to use.
Figure 2 is an elevation view of a first container of a packaging system according to one or more embodiments of the present invention. The first container 20 stores and distributes a first cosmetic component and the second container 40 stores and distributes a second
Cosmetic component, which is used together with the first cosmetic component to produce a cosmetic effect. For example, the first cosmetic component may be for face wash and the second cosmetic component may be a bead-like material that provides exfoliation to the wearer's skin when used with the face wash.
The first container 20 comprises any convenient shape and material. The first container 20 comprises a body 20a, a base 20b, a support 20c, and a closure 20d. Therein, the body 20a comprises a peripheral shape 20e that can be, but need not be, substantially constant in cross section from the base 20b to the support 20c. The support 20c may have any convenient shape, but preferably includes a downward slope from a central portion to the peripheral edge.
The first cosmetic component, such as, in the example given above, a face wash, may be in a liquid or gel state, including solutions, dispersions, emulsions, lotions, and creams. Therefore, the first container 20 may comprise a substantially cylindrical body 20a made of a flexible material, such as plastic. In it, the first container can be manufactured by injection molding.
The base 20b may be reinforced, although the body has soft sides to allow a user to squeeze a
first container 20. The holder 20c can be connected to a centrally located neck portion 20e to which the closure 20d fits. The closure 20d may be a removable ball cap that is screwed into the neck portion 20f. The ball cap allows the first cosmetic component to come out conveniently by means of the downstream pressure portion 20g operable by a user that changes an output flow (not shown) free of a wall portion of the plug.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a second container 40 of a packaging system 60 according to one or more embodiments of the present invention and wherein the second container comprises a translucent material. Figure 4 is a perspective view of the second container 40 of the packaging system 60 of Figures la-lc where a nozzle is in an open position. Figure 5 is a perspective view of a second exploded container 40 of the packaging system 60 of Figures la-lc in relation to a closure 20d of the first container.
The second container 40 comprises a first body
40a, which includes a space 40b for reception and a base 40c, and a closure 40d. The body 40a can be manufactured in any suitable form and of any suitable material and comprises any suitable shape. However, the body 40a preferably comprises a peripheral shape 40e that
continues to the peripheral form 20e. In it, the peripheral shape 40e in the base 40c in cross section couples a cross section of the peripheral shape 20e in a support 20c.
The base 40c comprises a shape that couples the shape of the support 20c by including a downward sloping coupling from a central portion to a peripheral edge of the base. In addition, the receiving space 40b comprises a shape that fits, preferably under pressure, in the closure 20d to allow the second container to be removably mounted in the first container. Therefore, the receiving space 40b comprises a peripheral wall 40f and a raised base 40g sealing the space from the inside of the second container.
Figure 6a is a cross-sectional view of a second container of the packaging system of Figures la-lc taken through Figure 4. Figure 6b is a perspective view of a body of the second container of the packaging system of Figures la-lc.
To ensure a snap fit, the receiving space 40b may comprise one or more pins 40h provided on the peripheral wall 40f and projecting slightly into the receiving space to support against a closure that is received in the receiving space.
The second cosmetic component, such as, in the
As an example given above, a bead material may comprise a substantially solid granular state. In this way, the second container 40 may comprise a substantially cylindrical body 40a with a peripheral edge 40i to form a large opening for easily filling the second container with a granular material.
Figure 7 is a perspective view of a portion of a closure of the second container according to one or more embodiments of the present invention. Figure 8 is a perspective view of a further portion of a closure of the second container according to one or more embodiments of the present invention. A closure 40d may be in the form of a cap (a snap-in cap) that fits securely on a shoulder 40j provided on the edge 40i. One or more detents 40k may be provided proximate the edge 40i and one or more coupling notches 401 may be provided in an inner portion of the cap, ie, the closure 40d, to prevent unintentional rotation of the cap relative to the body.
The closure 40d may comprise a nozzle 42 disposed in an opening 40m in the closure. The nozzle 42 comprises a central wall 42a terminating in a finger portion 42b for lifting the nozzle. In a closed state, the nozzle rests in the opening 40m and the finger grip rests in a recess 40n.
A pair of pins 42c are arranged in a pair of guide walls 42d which are arranged perpendicular to the central wall to form a trough. The pins 42c comprise an axis around which the nozzle opens in a rotatable manner relative to the closure using the finger grip. A stop 42e is provided to prevent excessive rotation and to limit the size of the nozzle opening relative to the lid.
In use, a manufacturer fills each container with the respective cosmetic component. In it, the second container 40 is mounted in the first container 20 to form the reduced packaging system 60. The packaging system 60 is then placed in an additional transport container such as a box, which would be smaller than if the container were transported individually, or wrapped in heat-shrinkable plastic together using less material than if each container were wrapped in heat-shrinkable plastic individually.
An end user receives an attractive combined packaging unit. The packaging unit occupies less space than the combined space of the individual components. The user removes the second container from the first container. Each container comprises a closure that adapts to the cosmetic component provided therein.
Thus, in the example given herein, a
user can distribute the facial wash of the first container 20 by changing an open ball cap and washing his face. The user can then add the bead material to exfoliate by opening the nozzle of the second container and distributing the bead material. The amount of bead material is within the control of consumers, and can be adjusted based on your own experience. The containers are provided with instructions for use, which may include a guide for the quantity of each product to be used alone or together. Once finished, the user can assemble the second container in the first container and store the packaging unit.
Advantageously, the first container and the second container comprise differently shaped bodies that accommodate the cosmetic components, each one being designed to store and distribute. For example, the first container 20 may be a 200 ml container having smooth sides and the second container 40 may be a jar with firm sides of 28 grams (1 oz.).
According to one or more embodiments of the present invention, the cosmetic system 100 can be configurable for the user. Therein, a user may choose from a plurality of cosmetic components for either or both of the first or second containers. For example, a
user can select from different facial washes for the first container and / or from different exfoliating materials for the second container, as desired by the user.
According to one or more embodiments of the present invention, the first and second containers are typically sized so that each has a substantially equivalent number of portions of use in each. In the same, both containers are emptied to the same, time allowing a user to avoid having remains. In another embodiment the cosmetic compositions in the first and second containers may be sold to a customer separately to be subsequently assembled by the customer. One or both of the products sold separately may include clues that direct the buyer to buy the other product and may also include instructions for use that includes the assembly. By purchasing separately the consumer is able to select a particular cosmetic composition in the first or second of a variety of offers, for example, a cleanser for oily skin or for dry skin, or a product of exfoliating beads for delicate skin or normal. The separate sale also allows the consumer to replace one of the first or second containers when the cosmetic compositions in the packaging system are not used at the same time.
A typical cosmetic composition for use in the first container of the packaging system is a water-based cleaner, typically a cleanser adapted for facial cleansing. The cleaner may therefore contain one or more surfactants, typically includes an anionic surfactant and also generally includes a nonionic surfactant. Among the anionic surfactants may be mentioned a laureth to laureth-12 sodium sulfate and a laureth to laureth-12 disodium sulfosuccinate. Among the nonionic surfactants mention may be made of a laureth-16 to laureth-40, a PEG-20 to PEG-80 sorbitan laurate, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, and cetearet-1 to cetearet-45. An illustrative list of surfactant cleaners appears in the International Handbook of Cosmetic Ingredients v.4, Section 4, page 2955-62 (Ninth Edition 2002) (hereinafter "INCI"). The cleaner can also include pH adjusting agents; viscosity improving agents, amphoteric / zwitterionic surfactants such as cocoamidopropyl betaine; humectants; emollients; medicinal plants to provide skin improvement benefits, for example, oat protein, banana extract, vanilla planifolia extract, willow extract, etc .; conservatives; fragrances; chelating agents; and dyes.
The exfoliation beads contain one or more granular materials of a size and shape adapted to
abrade the skin to gently remove dead skin cells. Suitable granular materials have an average particle size of about 50 to 500 microns, preferably about 75 to 250 microns, and more preferably about 75 to 200 microns. The shape is usually irregular, but without sharp features, but they can also be more evenly ovate, including spherical shape. Suitable materials include plant seeds in powder form, i.e., apricot seed powder, adzuki seed powder, nut shell in the form of powder, such as walnut shell powder; synthetic materials such as polyethylene powder; silica; pumice. Illustrative abrasive materials suitable for use to exfoliate skin are identified in INCI, v. 4, Section 4. p. 2878
Although the invention has been described in conjunction with specific embodiments, it will be understood that many alternatives, modifications, and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art in light of the foregoing description.
