Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una estructura de fibra óptica, eléctricamente sintonizable, que comprende una longitud de fibra óptica que incluye dos núcleos ópticos uniformemente separados, monomodales colocados dentro de un revestimiento común, a manera de proporcionar dos trayectorias ópticas de guía, siendo las características ópticas de por lo menos los núcleos, diferentes a manera de proporcionar a las dos trayectorias de guía, diferentes constantes de propagación, cuyos valores coinciden con una longitud de onda predeterminada, de manera que la energía óptica en dicha longitud de onda se transferirá repetidamente de un núcleo al otro, la estructura de fibra óptica está caracterizada porque los dos electrodos están provistos dentro del revestimiento y se colocan con por lo menos un núcleo entre ellos para aplicar un campo eléctrico a ese núcleo, para alterar por lo tanto su constante de propagación mediante el efecto electro-óptico y alterar por lo tanto dicha longitud de onda, siendo por lo tanto la estructura sintonizable.
