Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para la fabricación de varillas de cobre adecuadas para su estirado o laminado subsecuente para formar alambre de cobre, varilla que se caracteriza por que tiene una lisura de superficie mejorada y estar substancialmente libre de óxidos de superficie, que comprende los pasos de proveer una carga fundida de cobre de una pureza correspondiente a la pureza de cátodos de cobre refinados electrolíticamente, colar el baño fundido para formar barras de cobre coladas, laminar en caliente las barras de cobre coladas para formar una varilla de cobre laminada de caliente, regular la temperatura de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente dentro de la escala de 121 a 649 grados C, regular el paso de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente a través de una solución acuosa que contiene una concentración controlada de ácido sulfúrico dentro de la escala de 180 a 450 gramos/litro libre de ácido y una concentración controlada de peróxido de hidrógeno dentro de la escala de 5 a 50 gramos/litro de concentración para producir una varilla de cobre cepillada químicamente y sometida a tratamiento de baño de ácido laminada en caliente, regular la temperatura de la solución acuosa que contiene el ácido sulfúrico y el peróxido de hidrógeno estabilizado a una escala de entre 49 y 71 grados C, paso de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente que se regula para proveer un tiempo de reacción de la escala de 2 segundos a 12 minutos que contiene una solución acuosa de ácido sulfúrico y peróxido de hidrógeno estabilizado, extraer una longitud de muestra de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente cepillada químicamente y sometida a tratamiento ácido, someter la muestra a una prueba mecánica para obtener la indicación de la lisura de superficie de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente cepillada químicamente y sometida a tratamiento ácido y ajustar una o más de los variables del proceso que comprenden la temperatura de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente, la concentración de peróxido de hidrógeno en la solución acuosa, la concentración de ácido sulfúrico en la solución acuosa, el tiempo de paso de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente a través de la solución y la temperatura de la solución acuosa con lo cual se mejora la lisura de superficie de la varilla de cobre laminada en caliente cepillada químicamente y sometida a tratamiento ácido y se remueven substancialmente los óxidos de superficie.
