Abstract

The invention relates to a method of dating the old cellulose textile materials.The method, according to the invention, includes determination by viscosimetric method of the cellulose polymerization degree in the old material, establishment of the cellulose glycolysis degree in the old material according to the relationship Δ(%)=100[2/(GP)f-2/(GP)i], where (GP)f is the cellulose polymerization degree for the old material, and (GP)i - the cellulose polymerization degree for new cotton or new cellulose mixture: flax, hemp and/or cotton, equal respectively to 1800 and 3100, extrapolation of the value Δ(%) on calibration graphic charts, representing the equivalent age of the material depending on the cellulose glycolysis degree, using different graphic charts for cotton and respectively for the said cellulose mixture.
