Abstract
Description
1. Technikos sritis.1. Technical field.
Išradimas priskiriamas difrakciškai neribotų asimetriškų šviesos pluoštų, pavyzdžiui, lazerinių diodų liniuočių spinduliuotės, erdvinio pasiskirstymo transformavimui. Toks pluoštų transformavimo būdas gali būti naudojamas galinio kaupinimo kietojo kūno lazeriuose, spinduliuotės įvedimui į šviesolaidžius, medžiagų apdirbime, medicinoje. The invention relates to the transformation of the spatial distribution of diffractionally unlimited asymmetric light beams, such as laser diode line rays. This type of beam transformation can be used for end-stack solid state lasers, radiation delivery to fiber optics, materials processing, and medicine.
2. Technikos lygis.2. State of the art.
Didelės apertūros lazeriniai diodai yra didelės galios, kompaktiški, ilgaamžiai šviesos šaltiniai, plačiai taikomi kietojo kūno lazerių kaupinimui, medicinoje, virinimui, litavimui ir kt. Deja, tokių lazerių spinduliuotė pasižymi didele asimetrija. Pluošto skersiniai matmenys statmenoje lazerio sandūros krypčiai plokštumoje gali būti 0,2-1 μπι, o skėsties kampas iki 100 laipsnių, sandūros plokštumoje pluošto dydis gali siekti iki 10 mm, skėsties kampas apie 10-25 laipsnių. Tokių cilindriškai asimetriškų lazerinių pluoštų charakterizavimui yra naudojami pluošto kokybės parametrai Λ/χ 2 ir M2, kurie parodo, kiek kartų duoto pluošto skėstis viršija difrakcija riboto pluošto skėstį dvejose statmenose plokštumose, (žiūr. Physics and Technology of Laser Resonators, Adam Hilger, 1989). Pavyzdžiui, įvedimo į šviesolaidį atveju turi būti suformuotas cilindriškai simetriškas pluoštas, o kietojo kūno lazerių atveju kaupinimo pluoštas turi būti artimas cilindriškai simetriškam (nedidelė asimetrija leistina naudojant cilindrinius rezonatorius).High-aperture laser diodes are high-power, compact, long-life light sources, widely used in solid state laser storage, medicine, welding, soldering, and more. Unfortunately, such lasers have a high degree of asymmetry. The beam may have transverse dimensions in the plane perpendicular to the laser interface in the plane of 0.2-1 μπι with an angle of up to 100 degrees, beam size of up to 10 mm in the interface, and an angle of about 10-25 degrees. The fiber quality parameters Λ / χ 2 and M 2 are used to characterize such cylindrical asymmetric laser beams, which represent the number of times a given beam shield exceeds the diffraction limited beam shield in two perpendicular planes, (see Adam Hilger, Physics and Technology, 1989). ). For a typical laser diode ruler, the parameter M 2 is about 1500 and M 2 is about 1, which means that the beam in the y plane is focused as diffraction limited, in the ox plane the beam focuses on tens of times the same focus angle. Such high beam asymmetry makes it difficult to use laser diodes. For example, for fiber-optic input, a cylindrical symmetrical beam must be formed, and for solid state lasers, the stacking beam must be close to cylindrical symmetry (slight asymmetry is permitted with cylindrical resonators).
There are several known ways to symmetry and otherwise control the asymmetry of high-aperture laser diode beam radiation. One of the more widely used methods is to inject the radiation of each laser forming a laser ruler into a separate optical fiber by connecting the other ends of the optical fiber into a symmetrical braid. Image rotation sets, 2 LT 5060 B parallel mirrors, glass plate and prism sets are also used to correct asymmetric fibers. These techniques are described in more detail in the following section, highlighting their shortcomings.
3. Dabartinių sprendimų kritika.3. Criticism of current decisions.
Lazerinių diodų liniuotės gali būti atvaizduojamos įprastinės optikos pagalba, o vaizdo plokštumoje kiekvieno liniuotę sudarančio lazerio spinduliuotė atskiriama veidrodžiu ir įvedama į atskirą šviesolaidį (D.Shannon ir kt. US5299222, 1994.03). Be to, įvedant lazerio pluoštą į šviesolaidį neišvengiami nuostoliai, o tarpai tarp cilindrinės formos šviesolaidžių mažina apertūros užpildymo koeficientą.Laser diode rulers can be imaged using conventional optics, and in the imaging plane, the radiation emitted by each laser forming the ruler is mirrored and fed into a separate optical fiber (D.Shannon et al., US5299222, 1994.03). By putting the other ends of the fiber optic into a symmetrical weave, a symmetrical light beam is obtained. The disadvantage of this method is the high labor cost and high precision of individual lasers (ranging from ten to 100) into the fiber. In addition, the insertion of the laser beam into the fiber leads to unavoidable losses and the spacing between the cylindrical optical fibers reduces the aperture fill factor.
W.A Clarkson, A.B.Neilson, D.C.Hanna patente (US 5825551A, 1998.10), lazerinių diodų pluoštų asimetriją siūloma koreguoti, panaudojant du šiek tiek perstumtus, lygiagrečius veidrodžius, orientuotus įstrižai lazerinio pluošto sklidimo krypčiai. Šioje schemoje naudojami tik įprastiniai optiniai elementai - lęšiai, prizmės, veidrodžiai. Tačiau tokio pluošto kolimatoriaus geometriniai matmenys gaunami palyginti dideli, tai dažnai yra nepriimtina komerciniuose produktuose, be to, schemoje naudojami veidrodžiai turi būti išstatomi dideliu tikslumu. The patent of W.A Clarkson, A.B. Neilson, D.C. Hanna (U.S. Pat. No. 5,825,551A, 1998.10) proposes to adjust the asymmetry of laser diode beams using two slightly displaced, parallel mirrors oriented in the diagonal direction of the laser beam. This scheme uses only conventional optical elements - lenses, prisms, mirrors. However, the geometric dimensions of such a fiber collimator are relatively large, which is often unacceptable in commercial products, and the mirrors used in the scheme must be positioned with high precision.
E.L.Wolak, J.G.Endriz patente (LIS 6044096A, 2001.03) lazerinių diodų liniuotės asimetriškas pluoštas transformuojamas, panaudojant vaizdą sukančių veidrodžių rinkinį. Šio metodo trūkumas yra tas, kad, pluošto skaidymui naudojant atspindinčius optinius elementus, reikalingas didesnis pozicionavimo tikslumas, lyginant su šviesą laužiančių optinių elementų pozicionavimo tikslumu. Be to, šiame patente aprašyto veidrodžių rinkinio gamybos technologija yra komplikuota.E.L. Wolak, J.G.Endriz patent (LIS 6044096A, 2001.03) transforms an asymmetric beam of a laser diode ruler using a set of image rotating mirrors. The disadvantage of this method is that the positioning accuracy of the fiber splitting using the reflecting optical elements is higher than that of the refractive optical elements. In addition, the technology for producing the mirror set described in this patent is complicated.
Izava ir kt. patente (DE 19743322A1, 1998.05) siūloma lazerinių diodų liniuotės pluoštą simetrizuoti panaudojant du statmenose plokštumose pasuktų stiklo plokštelių rinkinius. P.Y.Wang Beam-shaping optics deliver high-power beams, Laser Focus World, December 2001, p. 115-118 straipsnyje aprašytas metodas, kuriame tą pačią stiklo plokštelių funkciją atlieka dvi plonų stataus kampo prizmių grupės, veikiančios statmenose plokštumose. Izava et al. A patent (DE 19743322A1, 1998.05) proposes the symmetry of a laser diode ruler beam using two sets of glass plates rotated in perpendicular planes. P.Y.Wang Beam-shaping optics deliver high-power beams, Laser Focus World, December 2001, p. Articles 115 to 118 describe a method in which two groups of thin rectangular prisms, operating in perpendicular planes, perform the same function of glass plates. Using both wafer and prism sets avoids losses in the wafer or prism contact planes.
Prototipas. Prototype. J.L. Nightingale et al. U.S. Pat. No. 5,798,877A, Aug. 8, 1998, proposes to improve the luminance symmetry of laser diodes or their rulers up to five times by using a glass plate and two wedge prisms. Although the method is very simple and inexpensive, due to the losses between discrete optical elements (wafers and prisms), it is practically applicable only to large area (100-500 µm wide) diode lasers and is not suitable for diode-ray beam symmetry, which requires beam splitting more than two parts. This patent (U.S. Pat. No. 5,798,877A) proposes the use of sequentially uniform molds consisting of a glass plate and two wedge prisms for splitting the fiber into more than two parts (four, eight, etc.). However, this method has a serious drawback, since the light loss is quadratic in the number of continuous splitting of the fibers. By the way, it is clear from the patent description that the authors realized only the splitting of the fiber into two parts, although splitting into more than two parts would be necessary.
The fundamental difference between our method and that described in U.S. Pat. No. 5,798,877A is that we divide the asymmetric fiber into the required number of fibers (for example, five or more) by a single optical element, the multi-prism. This avoids losses between discrete elements and simplifies the assembly of the beamformer.
4. Išradimo esmė.4. Gist of the invention.
Šiame išradime aprašyta optinė schema, kuri įgalina lanksčiai valdyti didelės asimetrijos lazerinių pluoštų kokybės parametrų λ/2χ ir dvejose statmenose kryptyse santykį, išlaikant jų sandaugą mažai pakitusią. Be to, schema įneša mažus šviesos nuostolius, yra labai kompaktiška (mažas kiekis optinių elementų), surinkimo metu nereikalauja tikslaus derinimo. The present invention discloses an optical scheme that allows flexible control of the ratio of the quality parameters λ / 2 χ of high-asymmetric laser beams to the two perpendicular directions, while keeping their product small. In addition, the circuitry produces low light losses, is very compact (small amount of optical elements), and does not require precise tuning during assembly. The principle of the invention is based on the use of a polyhedron prism (Fig. 2). In this prism, the original asymmetric fiber is split into N secondary fibers, diverting them in different directions so that, at a given location in the space, the secondary fibers appear one above the other. At this point in space, the secondary fibers are broken in the entry planes of the individual glass panes, aligning their propagation directions. In the plates, the light beams propagate parallel to the contact surfaces of the plates. The exit surfaces of the plates may be flat, cylindrical, conical and other, depending on how the light beam is to be further transformed. Additional optical elements, such as lenses, may be used behind the glass panes.
Kai reikia transformuoti ne vieną o kelis asimetriškus lazerinius pluoštus, sklindančius viena kryptimi, pavyzdžiui, kolimuotų „greitosios“ ašies kryptimi dviejų ar daugiau diodinių liniuočių rinkinio atveju, kiekvienam pluoštui naudojama atskira daugiabriaunė prizmė, tačiau visi daugiabriaunėse prizmėse lūžę pluoštai suvedami į bendrą stiklo plokštelių (4) rinkinį su įvairiais galimais įėjimo ir išėjimo paviršiais. When one or more asymmetric laser beams traveling in one direction need to be transformed, for example in the case of a collimated "fast" axis for a set of two or more diode bands, each beam has its own multilayer prism, but all the beams in the multilayer prism are 4) a kit with various possible entry and exit surfaces.
Be to, daugiabriaunių prizmių pluoštą skaidančių paviršių pločiai „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi yra vienodi arba skirtingi, parinkti taip, kad po transformacijos suminis pluoštas „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi turėtų pageidaujamą energijos skirstinį, o daugiabriaunės prizmės ir stiklo plokštelių įėjimo bei išėjimo paviršiai padengiami skaidrinančiomis dangomis, norint sumažinti energijos nuostolius. In addition, the "slow" axis widths of the polyhedron prism beam divergent surfaces are the same or different, such that, after transformation, the aggregate beam in the "slow" axis direction has the desired energy distribution and the multidimensional prism and glass plate entry and exit surfaces to reduce energy loss.
5. Detalus išradimo aprašymas.5. Detailed Description of the Invention.

A strongly asymmetric laser (light) beam, such as a laser diode 1 or a laser diode ruler 2, propagating in the z axis, after collimation in the y (fast) axis (the beam can also be collimated in the x (slow) axis using cylindrical lenses) ) falling into the first multi-prism prism 3, the entrance surface of which is flat and perpendicular to the direction of beam propagation (Fig. 2). The output surface of the polyhedron prism 3 forms an N plane where N is equal to the number of fibers into which the incident beam is divided. The number N is calculated based on the shape of the beam to be formed at the output of the beamformer. For example, in the case of longitudinal stacking of solid state lasers, where an elliptic mode is formed in the laser active element, it is sufficient to divide the initial beam of 10 mm diode ruler 2 into N = 5 parts. In order to equalize the parameter M 2 , the number of "fast" and "slow" numbers N depends on the parameter M 2 in the direction of the "slow" axis, for example, if A / x 2 = 1000, the TV should be about 30.
The number N can also be equal to the number of individual diode lasers 1 in the laser diode ruler 2, where the distances between adjacent lasers are sufficiently large so that the radiation from adjacent lasers in the direction of the "slow" axis does not overlap.
Prizmės 3 išėjimo plokštumų normalės vektoriai nėra vienoje plokštumoje, todėl atitinkamose daugiabriaunio plokštumose lūžusi šviesos pluošto dalis yra nukreipiama reikiama kryptimi taip, kad tam tikroje erdvės vietoje atskiri pluoštai atsiranda vienas virš kito. Šioje erdvės vietoje yra statomas N stiklo plokštelių 4 rinkinys. Į kiekvienos atskiros plokštelės 4 briauną patenka po vieną daugiabriaunėje prizmėje 3 sudalintą pluoštą. Kiekvienos plokštelės 4 įėjimo plokštumos normalės vektorius yra orientuotas lygiagrečiai atitinkamos daugiabriaunio išėjimo plokštumos vektoriui (kai pirmosios daugiabriaunės prizmės 3 ir antrinių plokštelių 4 lūžio rodikliai yra tie patys), todėl kiekvienam, įėjusiam į plokštelę 4, šviesos pluoštui sugrąžinama pradinė sklidimo kryptis. Tokiu būdu antrinėse stiklo plokštelėse 4 suformuojama N vienas virš kito esančių lygiagrečių pluoštų. Kadangi kiekvieno padalinto pluošto skėstis x (lėtosios) ašies kryptimi išlieka ta pati, o pluošto plotis sumažėja i/N kartų, tai pluoštų visumos kokybės parametras Afx 2 sumažėja taip pat i/N kartų. Statmenoje plokštumoje, y (greitosios) ašies kryptimi pluošto plotis padidėja maždaug N kartų, o tuo pačiu padidėja ir parametras M2, tačiau M2 ir M2 sandauga arba bendras pluošto skaistis išlieka tas pats. The normal vectors of the output planes of the prism 3 are not in the same plane, so that in the respective polygonal planes, the refracted portion of the light beam is directed in the required direction such that, at a given location in space, the individual fibers appear on top of each other. A set of N glass plates 4 is under construction in this space. The edge 4 of each individual plate contains one fiber divided by a multi-ribbed prism 3. The input vector of each plate 4 in the input plane is oriented parallel to the corresponding polygonal output plane vector (where the first multi-prism 3 and the secondary plates 4 have the same refractive index), so that each beam entering the plate 4 returns the original propagation direction. In this way, N overlapping fibers are formed in the secondary glass plates 4. Since the distribution of each split fiber in the x (slow) axis remains the same and the fiber width decreases i / N times, so the fiber aggregate quality parameter Af x 2 also decreases i / N times. In the perpendicular plane, the width of the fiber increases approximately N times in the direction of the (rapid) axis, while the parameter M 2 increases, but the product of M 2 and M 2 or the overall luminance of the fiber remains the same.
Paprasčiausiu atveju antrinių stiklo plokštelių 4 išėjimo paviršiai yra plokštumos, statmenos pluošto sklidimo krypčiai (Fig. 3). Norint suvienodinti fokusavimo sąlygas „greitosios“ ir „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi, už stiklo plokštelių 4 yra statomas cilindrinis lęšis 5, veikiantis „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi, atvaizduojantis diodinių lazerių liniuotės 2 išėjimo paviršių į begalybę. Už cilindrinio lęšio 5 pluoštas fokusuojamas reikiamo židinio nuotolio sferiniu lęšiu 6.In the simplest case, the exit surfaces of the secondary glass plates 4 are planes perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the fiber (Fig. 3). In order to equalize the focusing conditions in the "fast" and "slow" axes, a cylindrical lens 5 is mounted behind the glass plates 4, acting in the "slow" axis, mapping the output surface of the diode laser ruler 2 to infinity. Behind the cylindrical lens 5, the beam is focused with the required focal length spherical lens 6.
In order to reduce the number of optical elements of the beamformer, instead of the cylindrical lens 6 acting in the "slow" axis direction, the exit surface of the glass plates 4 can be cylindrical (Fig. 4). In this case, the cylindrical exit surface of the glass plates 4 represents the surface of the diode ruler 2 to infinity. Depending on the technology used for the production of the glass plates 4, the cylindrical surfaces may be formed individually for each plate and then glued together in a single block, or it may be possible to first glue the plates to a single unit before forming a common cylindrical exit surface.
Dar mažesnis optinių elementų skaičius lazerinių pluoštų formuotuve gaunamas, atsisakant ir galinio sferinio lęšio 6, o kiekvienos stiklo plokštelės 4 išėjimo paviršių formuojant kūgio formos (Fig. 2). Šiuo atveju lazerinis pluoštas turi būti fokusuojamas „greitosios“ ašies kryptimi į vaizdo plokštumą 7 (Fig. 2), panaudojant trumpo židinio cilindrinį lęšį, esantį prieš daugiabriaunę prizmę 3. Kiekvienos plokštelės 4 išėjimo paviršius „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi atvaizduoja daugiabriaunės prizmės 3 atitinkamą išėjimo paviršių į vaizdo plokštumą 7, o „greitosios“ ašies kryptimi kūgiškas paviršius veikia kaip laužianti prizmė, nukreipianti kiekvieną antrinį pluoštą į vieną židinį vaizdo plokštumoje 7. Nors kūginis paviršius pasižymi ženklia aberacija, mūsų atveju, kai fokusuojamų pluoštų skaitinės apertūros siekia apie 0,1, o pluoštai turi didelę M reikšmę, kūginio paviršiaus aberacija turi mažą įtaką transformuoto pluošto kokybei, bei pluošto sąsmaukos skerspjūvio plotui ir ilgiui. An even lower number of optical elements in the laser beam former is obtained by dispensing also with the conical shape of the exit surface of the rear spherical lens 6 and of each glass plate 4 (Fig. 2). In this case, the laser beam must be focused in the "fast" axis to the image plane 7 (Fig. 2) using a short focal cylindrical lens located in front of the multi-prism 3. The output surface of each wafer 4 represents the corresponding output of the multi-prism 3. surface to the image plane 7, and in the direction of the "fast" axis, the conical surface acts as a refracting prism, directing each secondary beam to a single focal plane in image plane 7. Although the conical surface exhibits a significant aberration, in our case , and the fibers have a high M value, the cone surface aberration has little effect on the quality of the transformed fiber and the fiber cross sectional area and length.
Pastaroji pluoštų formuotuvo schema suteikia galimybę dar ir valdyti galutinio transformuoto pluošto skerspjūvio skirstinį „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi. Tai yra svarbu kietojo kūno lazerių galinio kaupinimo atveju, kai kaupinimo pluoštas lazerio aktyviajame elemente sukuria termolęšį [Walter Koechner Solid State Laser Engineering, Springer-Verlag, New York, 2001]. Įprastinio stačiakampio skirstinio kaupinimo pluoštai aktyviajame elemente sukuria termolęšį, turintį stiprią aberaciją, kurios neįmanoma kompensuoti įprastiniais optiniais elementais (lęšiais ir veidrodžiais). Šios aberacijos kompensavimui lazerių rezonatoriuose naudojami sudėtingi faziniai elementai [Diode-pumped regenerative amplifier delivering 100-mJ single-mode laser pulses, V. Bagnoud, J. Luce, L. Videau, and C. Rouyer, Opt.Lett. 26, 337-339, (2001)]. Mūsų atveju, parinkus tinkamus, skirtingus daugiabriaunės prizmės 3 išėjimo plokštumų pločius, kurios stiklo plokštelių 4 išėjimo paviršiais yra atvaizduojamos į pluošto formuotuvo išėjimo židinį, galima pasiekti, artimą gausimam kaupinimo skirstinį „lėtosios“ ašies kryptimi. The latter beamformer scheme also allows the control of the final transverse beam cross-sectional distribution in the "slow" axis direction. This is important in the case of end-stacking of solid-state lasers where the stacking beam forms a thermal lens within the laser active element [Walter Koechner, Solid State Laser Engineering, Springer-Verlag, New York, 2001]. Conventional rectangular beam distribution fibers in the active element produce a thermal lens with a strong aberration that cannot be compensated by conventional optical elements (lenses and mirrors). To compensate for this aberration, laser phase resonators employ complex phase elements [Diode-pumped regenerative amplifier delivering 100-mJ single-mode laser pulses, V. Bagnoud, J. Luce, L. Videau, and C. Rouyer, Opt.Lett. 26: 337-339 (2001)]. In our case, by selecting the appropriate different widths of the output planes of the multi-prism 3, which are mapped to the output focal of the beamformer on the exit faces of the glass plates 4, it is possible to achieve a near-accumulating distribution in
Visų optinių formuotuvo elementų paviršiai buvo skaidrinti, todėl bendri šviesos nuostoliai formuotuve siekė apie 10 %.In order to visualize the geometric dimensions and advantages of a practical beamformer, we present the dimensions of its elements and their arrangement. The beamformer was used to transform a 10mm wide, 20W power IMC Ine. laser diode ruler radiation used for longitudinal solid state laser stacking. Initially, the laser diode ruler was imaged in the direction of the "fast" axis to the focal plane of the beamformer using a short focal (f = 0.5 mm) large numerical aperture (0.8) acylindrical lens. Immediately beneath the acylindrical lens was a multiaxial prism (10.5 x 1 x 3 mm) with an input surface of one plane and an exit surface consisting of five planes with different normal vectors. At a distance of 30 mm from the prism stood a set of glass plates with the corresponding vectors of the normal of the entrance planes. The thickness of the glass plates was 0.4 mm and the width (7 mm) in the direction of the "slow" axis was determined by the spreading of the laser diode ruler radiation in the direction of the "slow" axis. The plates were made from Schott's D248 display glass, which has sufficient quality sidewalls and is technologically machined. The length of the plates in the z-axis was 6 mm. The secondary fibers in the glass plates were focused on the common focal point of the fiber former 12 mm from the glass plates on the conical exit surfaces of the plates. The total length of the beamformer from the laser diode ruler to the center of the beamformer was only 52 mm. The surfaces of all optical elements of the shaper were transparent, resulting in a total light loss of about 10%.
Šiame išradime aprašytas pluoštų formuotuvas gali būti naudojamas ir kelių lazerinių diodų liniuočių, išdėstytų viena šalia kitos, bendro pluošto formavimui. Šiuo atveju kiekvienos diodinių lazerių liniuotės spinduliuotė kolimuojama „greitosios“ ašies kryptimi atskiru cilindriniu mikrolęšiu, vėliau kiekvienos liniuotės pluoštai suskaidomi į keletą pluoštų ir nukreipiami reikiamomis kryptimis, panaudojant atskirą daugiabriaunę prizmę kiekvienai liniuotei. Visų daugiabriaunių prizmių išėjimo plokštumų normalės vektoriai orientuoti taip, kad tam tikroje erdvės vietoje suskaidyti pluoštai atsiranda vienas viii kito, kur patenka į aukščiau aprašytą, bendrą stiklo plokštelių rinkinį. Plokštelių rinkinyje pluoštai įgyja vienodą sklidimo kryptį, o tada toliau juos formuoti galima vienu iš aukščiau aprašytų būdų.The beamformer of the present invention may also be used to form a common beam of multiple laser diode rulers arranged side by side. In this case, the radiation of each diode laser ruler is collimated in the direction of the "fast" axis by a separate cylindrical microlens, then the fibers of each ruler are split into several fibers and directed in the required directions using a separate multi-prism for each ruler. The normal vectors of the output planes of all polygonal prisms are oriented such that, at a given location in space, the disintegrated fibers appear one to the other, where they fall into the common set of glass plates described above. In the set of plates, the fibers acquire a uniform direction of propagation, and then they can be further shaped in one of the ways described above.
Daugiabriaunės prizmės gali būti naudojamos ne tik lazerinių diodų liniuočių, bet ir šių liniuočių rinkinių bei didelio ploto lazerinių diodų spinduliuočių susiformavimui.Polygonal prisms can be used not only to form laser diode rulers, but also to form these ruler sets and large area laser diode emitters.
