Abstract

Claims (34)

  1. 클라이언트 시스템에 접속되어 있는 전화선을 포함하고 있는 통신 링크상으로 모뎀과 통신하는 클라이언트 처리 시스템에서, 상기 모뎀과 통신하는 중에 상기 클라이언트 처리 시스템에 의해 검출된 통신 두절에 응답하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 전화선상의 통신 두절에 응답하여 서버와의 통신을 종료하는 단계; 상기 전화선상에서 온후크 상태를 설립하는 단계; 및 링 신호를 대기하는 단계를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 통신 두절은 호출 대기 신호에 의해 야기된 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.

  6. 제1항에 있어서, 링신호가 소정의 제1시간기간 이후에 수신되지 않으면, 온후크 상태가 상기 전화선상에서 발생하기를 기다리는 단계; 및 상기 온후크 상태의 검출시에 상기 서버와의 통신을 재설립하는 단계를 더 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  7. 전화선을 포함하고 있는 통신 링크상으로 서버와 통신하는 클라이언트 처리 시스템에서, 상기 서버와의 통신 중의 통신 두절을 처리하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 통신 두절에 응답하여 상기 서버와의 통신을 종료하는 단계; 상기 통신 두절 이후에 오프후크 상태를 검출하는 단계; 상기 오프후크 상태가 상기 통신 두절 이후에 검출되면, 온후크 상태를 대기하는 단계; 및 상기 온후크 상태의 검출시에, 상기 서버와의 통신을 재설립하는 단계를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  8. 통신 링크에 의해 서버 시스템에 접속되어 있는 클라이언트 시스템에서, 서버와 통신을 설립하는 방법으로서, 상기 클라이언트 시스템이 상기 서버와의 통신을 위한 제1송수신기 수단 및 상기 서버와의 통신을 위한 제2송수신기 수단을 포함하고 있는 방법에 있어서, 상기 클라이언트와 상기 서버간의 통신의 개시를 요구하는 사용자 입력을 수신하는 단계; 및 상기 사용자 입력에 응답하여, 비용 산정 기준을 기초로 상기 서버와 통신을 하기 위해 상기 제1송수신기 수단 또는 상기 제2송수신기 수단을 선택하는 단계를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  9. 제8항에 있어서, 상기 비용산정 기준은 상기 서버와 통신하기 위해 상기 제2송수신기 수단의 사용자 관련된 환율에 비해 상기 서버와 통신하기 위해 상기 제1송수신기 수단의 사용자 관련된 환율과 대응되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.

  18. 제17항에 있어서, 상기 전화 시스템은 상기 세그멘트에 접속되어 있는 구내 전화를 가지고 있으며, 이에 따라 호출자 ID 정보를 포함하고 있는 호출 상대에 의한 수신 전화 호출은 상기 클라이언트 처리 시스템의 사용자에 의해 상기 구내전화로 수신가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.

  20. 제19항에 있어서, 상기 호출자 ID 정보와 대응되는 이름이 상기 메모리에 저장되어 있지 않으면 상기 호출자 ID 정보와 대응되는 이름을 제공하라는 요구를 제2서버 처리 시스템측으로 전송하는 단계를 더 포함하고 있고, 상기 요구는 상기 전화번호를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  21. 제20항에 있어서, 상기 요구에 응답하여 상기 제2서버 처리 시스템으로부터 상기 호출자 ID 정보와 응답되는 이름을 수신하는 단계를 더 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  22. 제19항에 있어서, 호출자 ID 정보를 포함하고 있는 전화 호출은 구내 전화로 상기 클라이언트 처리 시스템의 사용자에 의해 수신가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  23. 제19항에 있어서, 상기 메시지는 수신 전화 호출이 수신중임을 알리는 지시를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  24. 제19항에 있어서, 상기 클라이언트 처리 시스템은 사용자가 월드 와이드 웹을 브라우징할 수 있도록 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  25. 통신 링크상으로 원격 서버 시스템과 통신하는 클라이언트 시스템으로서, 상기 통신 링크의 세그멘트는 상기 클라이언트 시스템과 전화 시스템에 의해 공유되고 있고, 상기 클라이언트 시스템은 원격 제어 장치로부터 수신된 사용자 입력에 응답할 수 있는 클라이언트 시스템에 있어서, 상기 프로세서로부터 시각적이 디스플레이 정보를 수신할 수 있도록 접속되어 있는 텔레비젼 세트로서, 상기 클라이언트 시스템의 사용자측으로 상기 시각적인 디스플레이 정보를 디스플레이해 주는 텔레비젼 세트; 상기 원격 제어 장치로부터 수신된 사용자 입력과 상기 원격 서버 시스템으로보터 수신된 정보를 기초로 상기 텔레비젼 세트상에 디스플레이된 대화형 디스플레이 환경을 통해 상기 사용자가 상기 클라이언트 시스템에 의해 네비게이팅할 수 있도록 구성되어 있는 프로세서; 상기 수신된 전화 호출을 수신하는 수단; 상기 수신 전화 호출을 기록하는 수단; 및 상기 수신 전화 호출의 기록을 상기 사용자측으로 출력하는 수단을 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  26. 제25항에 있어서, 상기 수신 호출은 전화번호를 포함하고 있는 호출자 ID 정보를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  27. 제26항에 있어서, 상기 수신 전화 호출이 존재하는지를 지시해 주는 메세지를 상기 텔레비젼 세트상에 디스플레이하는 수단을 더 구비하고 있고, 상기 메세지는 상기 전화 번호에 대응되는 이름을 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  28. 제27항에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는 또한 클라이언트 시스템이 상기 사용자에 의해 특정된 호출자 아이덴테티를 입력하고; 상기 수신 전화 후출의 호출자 ID 정보를 상기 사용자에 의해 특정된 호출자 아이덴터티와 비교하며; 상기 수신 전화 호출의 호출자 ID 정보가 상기 사용자에 의해 특정된호출자 아이덴터티와 일치하면, 소정의 전자 우편 메시지를 소정의 논리적 주소측으로 자동적으로 전송해 줄 수 있도록 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  29. 제27항에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는 또한 클라이언트 시스템이 상기 사용자에 의해 특정된 호출자 아이덴터티를 입력하고; 상기 수신 전화 호출의 호출자 ID 정보를 상기 사용자에 의해 특정된 호출자 아이덴터티와 비교하며; 상기 수신 전화 호출의 호출자 ID 정보가 상기 사용자에 의해 특정된 호출자 아이덴터티와 일치하면, 소정의 전화 번호측으로 송신 전화 호출을 자동적으로 개시할 수 있도록 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  30. 제29항에 있어서, 상기 소정의 전화 번호의 수신 상대측에 접속되어 있는 송신 전화 호출에 응답하여 상기 수신 상대측으로, 기록된 오디오 메시지를 플레이해 주는 수단을 더 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  31. 제25항에 있어서, 수산 전화 호출은 상기 클라이언트 처리 시스템의 사용자에 의해 구내 전화로 수신할 수 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라리언트 시스템.
  32. 통신 링크상으로 서버 시스템과 통신하는 클라이언트 시스템에 있어서, 프로세서; 메모리; 상기 플로세서와 상기 메모리를 포함하고 있는 하우징으로서, 상기 클라이언트 시스템의 사용자측에 시각적인 지시를 제공하는 지시기를 포함하고 있는 하우징; 상기 하우징으로부터 떨어진 디스플레이 장치로서, 상기 프로세서로부터 수신된 디스플레이 정보를 기초로 사용자에게 디스플레이를 제공하는 디스플레이 장치; 상기 사용자가 읽지 않은 전자 우편을 가지고 있는지를 결정하는 수단; 및 상기 사용자가 읽지 않은 전자 우편을 가지고 있으면 지시기를 액티브시키는 수단을 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
  33. 제32항에 있어서, 상기 사용자에 의해 주소 지정된 전자 우편은 상기 서버에 의해 수신되고, 상기 클라이언트 시스템은 상기 사용자가 상기 서버에 저장되어 있는 읽지 않은 전자 우편을 가지고 있는지를 결정하기 위해 상기 서버와 접촉하는 수단을 더 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 클라이언트 시스템.
