Abstract

A power discrimination detection apparatus of a telephone changes an algorithm without making an additional switch circuit and another circuit, and simply sets a hardward function. Accordingly, in a telephone using an auxiliary power device in case of a power failure, the power discrimination detection apparatus easily detects whether a present power is a main power or an auxiliary power, and prevents a malfunction of the telephone. The apparatus includes: a main power-supply(10) for providing an externally-supplied power; auxiliary power-supply(20) for providing a power to a telephone when there is no power applied from the main power-supply(10) to the telephone; a power discrimination detector(30) for determining whether the power supplied to the telephon is from the main power-supply(10) or from the auxiliary power-supply(20); a controller(40) for generating a control signal after receiving a determined signal from the power discrimination detector(30); and a display driver(50) for outputting a light-on signal or light-off signal according to a control signal from the controller(40); and a display(60) which is turned on or off according to the light-on signal or the light-off signal from the display driver(50).
