Abstract

The present invention relates to immobilization of microorganisms in calcium alginate gap capsules by a microencapsulation method. According to the present invention, it is possible to achieve high concentration cultivation of cells, thereby significantly improving productivity, and further, the microorganism of the present invention. The immobilized calcium alginate capsules can be used to carry out various reactions utilizing the entire activity of microorganisms by filling them in a conventional fermentation tank or fluidized bed reactor, as well as to carry out specific enzymatic reactions using useful enzymatic activities contained in microbial cells. This makes it possible to considerably simplify the method of immobilizing the enzymes currently used.
