본 발명은 최대 16비트로 이루어진 가변길이코드 테이블을 이용한 가변길이 부호화 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 가변길이 부호화 방법은 영상 정보를 가지는 런 및 레벨에 대응된 런레벨코드와 상기 런레벨코드의 비트 수를 나타내는 길이코드로 이루어진 가변길이 코드가 기록된 메모리를 이용하여 런 및 레벨을 가별길이 부호화하는 것으로, 상기 레벨의 부호를 저장하는 단계와 ; 상기 런 및 레벨에 대응하는 가변길이 코드중에서 길이코드를 판독하여 상기 런 및 레벨에 대응되는 런레벨코드의 비트수를 결정하는 단계와 ; 결정된 길이코드에 해당하는 런레벨 코드를 전송하는 단계와 ; 상기 런레벨코드의 전송완료후 저장된 상기 레벨의 부호를 전송하는 단계를 포함한다.The present invention relates to a variable length encoding method using a variable length code table consisting of up to 16 bits.
