Abstract

The method detects the exact running speed of a video tape in a slowmode by comparing capstern frequency pulse signal with control pulse signal. The method includes the steps of: (A) comparing numbers of capstern pulse with control pulse; (B) finding that current speed is the same as the recording speed when two numbers are identical; (C) counting capstern frequency pulse to detect the tape speed when reproducing speed is not the same as the tape speed and current mode is SLP; and (D) detecting tape speed repeatedly after changing current mode to SLP when current mode is SP of SLP.
