Claims (24)

  1. 동물체내에 흡수될 수 있는 열가소성 중합체를 제공하고 ; 열가소성 중합체를 용융시키고 ; 열가소성 중합체를 중합체의 유리전이온도 이하의 온도로 냉각시켜, 핵형성을 유발시키고 자체-지체(self-support-ing member)를 형성하고 ; 자체-지지부재를 열가소성 중합체의 유리전이온도 이상 내지 이의 이하의 온도로 재가열하고 ; 이 재가열단계 도중에 자체-지지부재에 장력을 가하고; 여기에 가해진 장력을 유지하면서, 재가열한 자체-지지부재를 냉각시키고 ; 자체-지지부재를 냉각시켜 자체-지지부재가 이완된 후, 장력의 적용을 중단하는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로하여, 자체-지지되는 고강도 열가소성 부재를 제조하는 방법.
  2. 제 1항에 있어서, 열가소성 중가를 압출기에서 처리함으로써 용융시키는 방법.
  3. 제 2항에 있어서, 초기의 냉각단계 도중에 장력을 부재에 가하는 방법.
  4. 제 1항에 있어서, 초기의 냉각단계를, 부재를 냉각유체에 노출시킴으로써 수행하는 방법.
  5. 제 4항에 있어서, 냉각유체가 공기인 방법.
  6. 제 4항에 있어서, 냉각유체가 물인 방법.
  7. 제 6항에 이어서, 물을 분무시킴으로써 적용시키는 방법.
  8. 제 6항에 있어서, 부재를 수욕중에 침지시킴으로써 냉각시키는 방법.
  9. 제 1항에 있어서, 열가소성 중합체를 사출성형기에서 처리함으로써 용융시키는 방법.
  10. 제 9항에 있어서, 열가소성 중합체를 막대(rod)형으로 성형하는 방법.
  11. 제 10항에 있어서, 막대의 말단을 어닐링(annealing)시킨 후 재가열하는 방법.
  12. 제 1항에 있어서, 부재를 재가열하는 도중에 예열시킨 후 장력을 가하는 방법.
  13. 제 12항에 있어서, 장력을 가하는 단계를, 소정의 하중을 가할때까지 부재상에 간격진 두 점 사이에서, 서로에게 종방향으로 소정의 속도로 이동시킨 다음, 상대 운동속도를 서서히 저하시킴으로써 수행하는 방법.
  14. 제 1항에 있어서, 최종 냉각단계를, 부재를 냉각유체에 노출시킴으로써 수행하는 방법.
  15. 제 14항에 있어서, 냉각유체가 물인 방법.
  16. 제 3항에 있어서, 초기의 냉각단계 도중에 부재에 가하는 장력을 3이하의 연신비에서 가하는 방법.
  17. 제 16항에 있어서, 재가열 및 최종 냉각단계 도중에 부재에 가하는 장력이 초기의 냉각단계 도중에 가하는 장력보다 큰 방법.
  18. 제 16항에 있어서, 재강려 및 최종 냉각단계 도중에 부재에 가하는 장력을 3내지 10의 연신비에서 가하는 방법.
  19. 고분자량 폴리락타이드 중합체를 용융시키고 ; 용융된 폴리락타이드 중합체를 목적하는 형태로 제조하고 ; 제조된 부재를 조절된 속도에서 유리전이온도 이하의 온도로 즉시 냉각시켜, 핵 형성을 유발시키고 자체-지지부재를 제조하고 ; 자체-지지부재를 폴리락타이드 중합체의 유리전이온도 이상 내지 실질적으로는 이의 융점이하의 온도로 재가열하고 ; 제조된 부재의 원래 길이의 약 2내지 약 12배의 연신비에서, 상기한 속도에서 자체-지지부재에 장력을 가하여, 자체-지지부재에 고도의 분자배향을 수득하고; 재가열단계 도중에 가한 바와 동일한 수준의 장력을 유지하면서, 재가열한 자체-지지부재를 주위온도로 냉각시키고 ; 자체-지지부재를 냉각시켜 자체-지지부재가 이완된 후, 장력의 적용을 중단하는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하여, 자체-지지되는 고강도 열가소성 부재를 제조하는 방법.
  20. 최종 칫수가 예비성형된 부재의 초기칫수와는 실질적으로 상이하며, 형태는 예비성형된 부재의 초기 길이의 2배 이상인 최종길이 및 예비성형된 부재의 초기 횡단면 칫수의 50%미만인 최종 횡단면 칫수에 의해 제한되고, 고도로 분자배향되며, 최종 인장강도는 예비성형된 부재의 최종 인장강도보다 실질적으로 크고, 동물체내에 흡수될 수 있는 열가소성 중합성 재료로 형성되는 자체-지지되는 고강도 부재.
  21. 제 20항에 있어서, 부재가 폴리락타이드 중합체로 형성되는 자체-지지부재.
  22. 제 20항에 있어서, 부재가 압출된 폴리락타이드로 형성되는 자체-지지부재.
  23. 제 20항에 있어서, 부재가 성형된 폴리락타이드로 구성되는 자체-지지부재.
  24. 최종 칫수가 예비성형된 부재의 초기 칫수와는 실질적으로 상이하며, 형태는 예비성형된 부재의 초기길이의 2배이상인 최종길이 및 예비성형된 부재의 초기 횡단면 칫수의 50% 미만인 최종 횡단면 칫수에 의해 제한되고, 고도로 분자배향되며, 최종 인장강도는 예비성형된 부재의 최종 인장강도보다 실질적으로 크고, 동물체내에 흡수될 수 있는 고분자량 L(-)락타이드 중합체로 형성되는 자체-지지되는 대형(large profile)고강도 골고정장치(bone fixation derice).
