Abstract

Herbicidal emulsions contg. no organic solvents eliminated the hazards of skin/eye irritation and solvent flammability and were prepared containing an herbicide, e.g., butachlor, dispersed in a water carrier with added emulsifiers. These emulsions provided superior weed control and yield increases, as compared to emulsifiable concs., e.g., Machete. Thus, an herbicidal emulsion was prepared containing butachlor (91.2%) 548.26, Flo Mo XHA 20.73, and water 467.61 g/L. This emulsion provided superior weed control in rice (2-3% better than Machete formulations) and an 8% increase in rice yield (compared to control).
