Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a nanocomposite, a radiation shielding composition including the nanocomposite, a method of manufacturing the nanocomposite, and a method of manufacturing the radiation shielding composition.
Continuous exposure to radiation in nuclear power plants and radiation waste storage facilities changes the properties of parts and materials, deteriorates their functions, and has fatal effects on the human body. Considering this, the development of radiation shield-related technologies for radiation-related occupational groups and facilities is urgently required.
In the case of radiation shielding materials, it is difficult to introduce advanced technology from overseas due to the strategic value of material technology, and despite the strategic value and importance of technology, there has been little domestic research. In addition, when considering the deep space exploration plan according to the National Space Development Plan, the self-development of radiation shielding materials suitable for the deep space environment is essential.
In the case of a conventional radiation shielding material, a lead plate is used as it is or a shielding material in which lead powder or lead suboxide is mixed with an excessive amount of polymer resin is used, so there is a problem in that it is heavy. In addition, since human poisoning or pollution due to lead is likely to occur during manufacturing, use, and disposal, development of a lightweight lead-free radiation shielding material is required.
A lightweight lead-free radiation shielding material must be able to effectively block both alpha and beta particles of radiation and gamma waves and neutrons, and must have excellent mechanical properties, thermal conductivity, and durability. To this end, it is necessary to develop core technologies such as particle nano-powder manufacturing technology, composite technology, composite molding technology, and powder surface treatment technology.
Radiation absorbing and shielding materials are very extensive in the nuclear industry, military industry, medical equipment and aerospace industry, so it is necessary to lay the foundation for domestic commercialization through the development of independent material technology.
An object of the present invention is to provide a nanocomposite capable of effectively blocking both gamma waves and neutrons, a radiation shielding composition including the nanocomposite, a method of manufacturing the nanocomposite, and a method of manufacturing the radiation shielding composition.
