Abstract
Description
The scanner irradiates light onto a document using an illumination device, forms light reflected from the document on an image sensor using an imaging optical system, and photoelectrically converts the formed optical image into an electrical signal to obtain image data. The image sensor is a one-dimensional linear image sensor having a length in the first direction. While the scan module is moved in the second direction, a one-dimensional image may be continuously read using an image sensor, and the read image data may be converted into a two-dimensional image through image processing.
To obtain color image data, two methods can be employed. In one method, white light is irradiated onto the manuscript using a lighting device, the light reflected from the manuscript is color-separated into R, G, and B colors, and each of the R, G, and B colors is converted into R on a color image sensor. , G, and B sensing areas receive light. Another method is to use a lighting device to irradiate light of three colors, R, G, and B, to the manuscript, and use a monochromatic image sensor to sequentially receive light of three colors.

1 is a schematic configuration diagram of an embodiment of a scanner. Referring to FIG. 1 , a platen table 200 on which a
이미지 센서(120)는 예를 들어, CCD(charge coupled device) 이미지 센서, COMS(complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) 이미지 센서 등일 수 있다. The
The scanner may include an
When a scan start signal is input from a host (not shown) or a scanner operation panel (not shown), the
2 is a schematic configuration diagram of an embodiment of a scanner. The scanner of this embodiment is different from the embodiment of the scanner shown in FIG. 1 in that it includes an
The
이미지 센서(120a)는 예를 들어 제1방향(M)으로 배열되는 COMS(complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) 센서 어레이를 포함할 수 있다.
3 is a perspective view of an embodiment of an illumination device employed in the scanner shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 . FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of the light guide member shown in FIG. 3 . 3 and 4 , the
The
The
The light incident into the light transmitting unit 10-1 through the
As described above, the
Referring to FIG. 4 , some of the light emitted from the light source 20 (indirect light (IDL)) is totally reflected at least once inside the light transmission unit 10-1 and the light emission unit 10-2. Through the process, it is incident on the
The chip mirroring effect acts as an obstacle in realizing a uniform light quantity distribution in the first direction (M). The chip mirroring effect can cause image blur or changes in image density in the scanned image. Since the chip mirroring effect sensitively affects the position of the
Another problem that the chip mirroring effect may cause is an abrupt change in lighting characteristics according to the distance of the
FIG. 5 is a graph simulating lighting characteristics in the first direction M on the manuscript surface according to a change in height between the
The abrupt change in lighting characteristics due to the chip mirroring effect also depends on the position of the
Therefore, a method for reducing or eliminating the direct light DL is required. According to the scanner of this embodiment, the
The immersion amount Ld of the
The
Since the transmission path of the direct light DL between the
