Abstract
본 발명은 경량화를 달성하고, 기계적 물성을 우수하게 유지하면서 자속밀도를 향상시킬 수 있는 자기유변 탄성체에 관한 것이다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 자기유변 탄성체는 탄성체 기재에 편상의 샌더스트 플레이크와 구상의 샌더스트 파우더가 혼합되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.

Description
본 발명은 자기유변 탄성체에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 경량화를 달성하고, 기계적 물성을 우수하게 유지하면서 자속밀도를 향상시킬 수 있는 자기유변 탄성체에 관한 것이다.
자기유변성(Magneto-Rheological) 재료는 외부의 자기장에 의해 유변물성과 동적특성이 변하는 재료이다.
자기유변성 재료는 자기유변 유체(MR Fluid: MRF), 자기유변 발포체(MR foam) 및 자기유변 탄성체(MR Elastomer: MRE) 등이 있다.
최근에는 매트릭스가 유체이기 때문에 보관 중에 입자가 침전되거나 매트릭스를 보관하기 위한 별도의 용기가 필요하여 활용성이 제한되는 자기유변 유체를 대체하여 매트릭스가 탄성체로 이루어지는 자기유변 탄성체의 사용 빈도가 증가하고 있다.
특히, 자기유변 탄성체(MRE)는 자기장 인가에 따라 모듈러스(Modulus)가 변하고, 자기유변 효과(MR effect)를 나타내기 때문에 댐핑 부품, 쇽 업소버, 소음차단 시스템, 절연체 및 마그네토 레지스터 센서 등과 같은 분야에 널리 사용되고 있다. 특히, 자동차의 방진부품을 제조하는 분야에 자기유변 탄성체를 적용하는 기술이 지속적으로 연구중이다.
한편, 자기유변 탄성체(MRE)에 사용되는 연자성 분말 입자는 일반적으로 구형인 CIP(Carbonyl Iron Powder)를 사용하고 있다.
도 1은 종래의 자기유변 탄성체를 보여주는 구성도로서, 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이 종래의 자기유변 탄성체는 탄성체 기재(10)에 CIP 입자(20)가 혼합되어 이루어진다. 이때 자기유변 탄성체(MRE)의 자기적인 특성 향상을 위하여 CIP 분말(20)에 자기장을 인가하여 이방성을 부여하고 있다.
하지만, CIP 입자(20)는 분말 자체의 투자율이 낮아서 자기유변 탄성체의 반응성을 향상시키는데 한계가 있었다. 또한, 미립의 구형인 CIP 입자(20)에 이방성을 부여하여 자기적인 특성을 향상시키는데도 한계가 있었다.
상기의 배경기술로서 설명된 내용은 본 발명에 대한 배경을 이해하기 위한 것일 뿐, 이 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 이미 알려진 종래기술에 해당함을 인정하는 것으로 받아들여져서는 안 될 것이다.
본 발명은 자기응답성 입자로 투자율이 높은 소재인 샌더스트를 적용하여 경량화를 달성하고, 기계적 물성을 우수하게 유지하면서 자속밀도를 향상시킬 수 있는 자기유변 탄성체를 제공한다.
또한, 편상의 샌더스트 플레이크를 사용하여 분말 형상 자체에 이방성을 부여하여 자기적인 특성을 더욱 향상시킬 수 있는 자기유변 탄성체를 제공한다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 자기유변 탄성체는 탄성체 기재에 편상의 샌더스트 플레이크와 구상의 샌더스트 파우더가 혼합되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 합량은 탄성체 기재를 기준으로 30 ~ 150 PHR인 것이 바람직하다.
상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4 인 것이 바람직하다.
여기서, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율이 0 : 10 인 경우는 포함하지 않음.
상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 4 : 6 인 것이 더욱 바람직하다.
상기 탄성체 기재는 천연 고무이고, 상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더를 형성하는 샌더스트 합금분말은 Si: 9 ~ 10 wt%%, Al: 4 ~ 8wt% 및 잔부가 Fe로 이루어진 것이 바람직하다.
상기 샌더스트 플레이크는 소정의 방향으로 배향되어 배치되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 자기유변 탄성체는 자속밀도가 자속밀도는 0.025T(@4900A/m) 이상인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 자기유변 탄성체는 인장강도가 150Kgf/㎠ 이상인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 자기유변 탄성체는 연신율이 500% 이상인 것을 특징으로
본 발명의 실시예에 따르면, 자기응답성 입자로 CIP 입자를 사용하던 종래의 자기유변 탄성체 대비 투자율이 높은 샌더스트를 자기응답성 입자로 사용하는 자기유변 탄성체를 마련하여, 종래의 자기유변 탄성체에 사용되던 CIP 입자량 대비 적은 양의 샌더스트를 사용하더라도 동등 이상의 기계적 물성 및 자기적 특성을 유지할 수 있는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 이에 따라 자기유변 탄성체를 경량화시킬 수 있다.
또한, 자기응답성 입자로 샌더스트를 사용함으로써 자기적 특성을 향상시켜 자기유변 탄성체의 응답속도 향상을 기대할 수 있다.
그리고, 샌더스트를 형상에 따라 편상의 형상을 갖는 샌더스트 플레이크와 구상의 형상을 갖는 샌더스트 파우더를 혼합하여 사용함에 따라 자기유변 탄성체의 기계적인 물성의 향상을 기대할 수 있다.

도 4는 자기유변 탄성체에 혼합되는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합비율에 따른 자속밀도의 변화를 보여주는 그래프이다.

이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 실시예를 더욱 상세히 설명하기로 한다. 그러나 본 발명은 이하에서 개시되는 실시예에 한정되는 것이 아니라 서로 다른 다양한 형태로 구현될 것이며, 단지 본 실시예들은 본 발명의 개시가 완전하도록 하며, 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 발명의 범주를 완전하게 알려주기 위해 제공되는 것이다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 자기유변 탄성체를 보여주는 구성도이고, 도 3a는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 자기유변 탄성체에 혼합되는 샌더스트 플레이크를 보여주는 사진이며, 도 3b는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 자기유변 탄성체에 혼합되는 샌더스트 파우더를 보여주는 사진이다.
도 2에 도시된 바와 같이 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 자기유변 탄성체는 탄성체 기재(10)에 편상의 샌더스트 플레이크(100)와 구상의 샌더스트 파우더(200)가 혼합되어 이루어진다.
샌더스트 플레이크(100)는 도 3a에서 알 수 있듯이 구상의 샌더스트 파우더(200)를 밀링공정을 통하여 편상의 제조하여 이방성을 부여한 것이다.
도 3b는 샌더스트 파우더를 보여주는 사진으로서, 샌더스트 파우더가 구상을 갖는 것을 보여준다. 여기서 샌더스트 파우더가 구상이라는 것은 샌더스트 파우더가 정확한 구형으로 형성된다는 것을 의미하는 것이 아니라 대략 구형의 형상으로 형성된다는 것을 의미한다.
한편, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더는 이방성을 부여하기 위하여 소정의 방향으로 배향되어 배치된다. 특히, 적어도 편상의 샌더스트 플레이크는 그 형상에 의해 자체적으로 이방성이 부여된다.
탄성체 기재는 천연 고무를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다. 물론 탄성체 기재로 사용되는 소재는 천연 고무로 한정되지 않고, 탄성을 갖는 다양한 종류의 합성수지가 사용될 수 있다.
그리고, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더를 형성하는 샌더스트 합금분말은 Si-Al-Fe계 합금이 사용된다. 예를 들어 샌더스트 합금분말은 Si: 9 ~ 10 wt%%, Al: 4 ~ 8wt% 및 잔부가 Fe로 이루어진다.
이러한 샌더스트(sendust) 합금분말은 종래의 자기유변 탄성체의 자기응답성 입자로 사용되었던 CIP 분말 대비 투자율이 높고, 비저항이 높기 때문에 자기유변 탄성체의 자기적 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
부연하자면, CIP 분말은 투자율(μ0)이 500 수준이지만, 샌더스트 합금분말의 투자율(μ0)은 20,000 수준으로서, 상대적으로 고투자율을 갖는 샌더스트 합금분말을 사용함으로써 자기유변 탄성체를 사용하는 부품의 응답 속도를 향상시킬 수 있고, 자속밀도도 증가시킬 수 있다.
한편, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 합량은 탄성체 기재를 기준으로 30 ~ 150 PHR인 것이 바람직하다. 여기서 사용되는 PHR(Parts per Hundreds of Rubber)은 탄성체 기재 100 중량당 첨가되는 자기응답성 입자의 중량을 의미하는 단위이다.
만약, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 합량이 탄성체 기재를 기준으로 30 PHR 미만이면, 자기응답성 입자의 양이 너무 적어서 자기적 특성의 향상을 기대할 수 없고, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 합량이 150 PHR 초과이며, 자기응답성 입자의 양이 너무 많아져서 경도가 증가하고, 인장강도 및 연신율이 저하되는 문제가 발생한다.
그리고, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율을 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4 인 것이 바람직하다. 이때 본 실시예에 따른 자기유변 탄성체는 탄성체 기재(10)에 샌더스트 플레이크(100)와 샌더스트 파우더(200)가 혼합되어 이루어지기 때문에샌더스트 플레이크(100)와 샌더스트 파우더(200)의 혼합 비율이 0 : 10 인 경우는 포함하지 않는 것이 바람직하다.
만약, 제시된 혼합 비율보다 샌더스트 플레이크의 비율이 증가하면 자기유변 탄성체의 자속밀도는 증가하지만, 경도, 인장강도 및 연신율과 같은 물성이 저하되는 문제가 발생한다. 특히, 경도, 인장강도 및 연신율과 같은 물성 측면에서 자기유변 탄성체의 자기응답성 입자로 샌더스트 플레이크(100)와 샌더스트 파우더(200)의 혼합 비율이 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4 인 경우에 종래에 자기응답성 입자로 CIP 분말을 150 PHR 사용하는 경우와 유사한 물성을 구현할 수 있고, 바람직하게는 0 : 10 ~ 4 : 6 인 경우에 더 우수한 물성을 구현할 수 있다.
다음으로, 비교예와 실시예를 사용하여 본 발명에 따른 자기유변 탄성체에 혼합되는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합비율에 따른 자속밀도의 변화를 알아보기 위하여 다양한 종류의 시편을 준비하여 각 시편의 자속밀도를 측정하여 도 4에 도시하였다.
도 4는 자기유변 탄성체에 혼합되는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합비율에 따른 자속밀도의 변화를 보여주는 그래프이다.
이때 준비되는 시편은 하기의 표 1과 같다.

표 1에서 CIP는 자기응답성 입자로 CIP 분말을 혼합한 것을 의미하며, SD는 자기응답성 입자로 샌더스트를 혼합한 것을 의미하며, CIP 및 SD 이후에 기재된 숫자는 탄성체 기재에 대한 자기응답성 입자의 함량(PHR)을 의미한다. 또한, (F)는 샌더스트 플레이크를 의미하고, (P)는 샌더스트 파우더를 의미한다. 그리고, F:P는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 함량 비율을 의미한다.
도 4에서 확인할 수 있듯이, 자기응답성 입자로 샌더스트 플레이크를 혼합하여 사용하는 것이 종래의 CIP 입자를 사용하는 경우 및 샌더스트 파우더를 단독으로 사용하는 경우보다 자기적 특성이 우수한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히, 샌더스트 플레이크의 함량이 많아질수록 자기적 특성이 우수한 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
또한, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 함량 비율이 5:5 조건의 시편에서 측정된 자속밀도는 0.041T(@4900A/m)로 CIP 입자를 150 PHR를 함유한 시편에서 측정된 자속밀도는 0.013T(@4900A/m) 보다 높은 값을 보인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
다음으로, 자기유변 탄성체에 혼합되는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합비율에 따른 자기유변 탄성체의 기계적 물성의 변화를 알아보기 위하여 다양한 종류의 시편을 준비하여 각 시편의 경도, 인장강도 및 연신율을 측정하여 표 2에 나타내었다.

표 2도 표 1과 마찬가지로 RUB 100은 자기응답성 입자를 혼합하지 않고 탄성체 기재인 천연 고무만을 사용했다는 것을 의미하고, CIP는 자기응답성 입자로 CIP 분말을 혼합한 것을 의미하며, SD는 자기응답성 입자로 샌더스트를 혼합한 것을 의미하며, CIP 및 SD 이후에 기재된 숫자는 탄성체 기재에 대한 자기응답성 입자의 함량(PHR)을 의미한다. 또한, (F)는 샌더스트 플레이크를 의미하고, (P)는 샌더스트 파우더를 의미하고, (P)는 샌더스트 파우더를 의미한다. 그리고, F:P는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 함량 비율을 의미한다.
표 2에서 확인할 수 있듯이, 샌더스트 플레이크를 함유량이 많아질수록 자기유변 탄성체의 경도는 다소 높아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
하지만, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 함량 비율이 6 : 4를 기준으로 샌더스트 파우더의 함량이 많아지는 자기유변 탄성체의 경우, 종래의 CIP 입자를 150 PHR를 함유하는 자기유변 탄성체와 비교하여 인장강도와 연신율이 유사하거나 그 이상의 값을 보인 것을 알 수 있다.
특히, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 함량 비율이 4 : 6를 기준으로 샌더스트 파우더의 함량이 많아지는 자기유변 탄성체의 경우, 종래의 CIP 입자를 150 PHR를 함유하는 자기유변 탄성체와 비교하여 인장강도와 연신율이 높은 값을 보인 것을 알 수 있다.
이러한 결과에서 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4 인 것이 바람직하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 더욱 바람직하게는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 4 : 6 인 것이 바람직하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
결론적으로, 도 4 및 표 2의 측정결과에서 알 수 있듯이, 본 발명의 실시예에 따라 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4의 범위로 유지하면 자기유변 탄성체의 자속밀도를 CIP 입자를 150 PHR를 함유한 시편에서 측정된 자속밀도보다 높게 유지할 수 있다. 바람직하게는 자기유변 탄성체의 자속밀도를 0.025T(@4900A/m) 이상으로 높게 유지할 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 실시예에 따라 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4의 범위로 유지하면 자기유변 탄성체의 인장강도를 150Kgf/㎠ 이상으로 유지할 수 있다. 더 바람직하게는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 4 : 6의 범위로 유지하면 자기유변 탄성체의 인장강도를 180Kgf/㎠ 이상으로 유지할 수 있다.
그리고, 본 발명의 실시예에 따라 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4의 범위로 유지하면 자기유변 탄성체의 연신율을 500% 이상으로 유지할 수 있다. 더 바람직하게는 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 4 : 6의 범위로 유지하면 자기유변 탄성체의 연신율을 550% 이상으로 유지할 수 있다.
본 발명을 첨부 도면과 전술된 바람직한 실시예를 참조하여 설명하였으나, 본 발명은 그에 한정되지 않으며, 후술되는 특허청구범위에 의해 한정된다. 따라서, 본 기술분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 후술되는 특허청구범위의 기술적 사상에서 벗어나지 않는 범위 내에서 본 발명을 다양하게 변형 및 수정할 수 있다.

- 탄성체 기재에 편상의 샌더스트 플레이크와 구상의 샌더스트 파우더가 혼합되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 자기유변 탄성체.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,
상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 합량은 탄성체 기재를 기준으로 30 ~ 150 PHR인 것을 특징으로 하는 자기유변 탄성체.
- 청구항 2에 있어서,
상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 6 : 4 인 것을 특징으로 하는 자기유변 탄성체.
여기서, 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율이 0 : 10 인 경우는 포함하지 않음.
- 청구항 3에 있어서,
상기 샌더스트 플레이크와 샌더스트 파우더의 혼합 비율은 0 : 10 ~ 4 : 6 인 것을 특징으로 하는 자기유변 탄성체.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,
상기 탄성체 기재는 천연 고무이고,
