Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a secondary battery in which an electrode assembly is embedded in a pouch, and more particularly, when an overcurrent or overvoltage is input, an explosion or fire is prevented by blocking a current inflow or opening a portion of the pouch to discharge internal gas. It relates to a secondary battery that can be prevented.
The demand for secondary batteries as a source of energy is rapidly increasing in various fields, including personal portable terminals and electric vehicles.
Unlike primary batteries, rechargeable batteries that can be charged and discharged are being developed not only for digital devices but also for transportation such as electric vehicles.
Secondary batteries may be classified according to the material and external shape of the positive electrode and the negative electrode, but among them, the lithium secondary battery using the lithium compound material has a large capacity and a low self-discharge rate, so as to replace the conventional nickel-cadmium secondary battery. It is widely used.
In addition, the lithium secondary battery may be manufactured in various forms. Typically, the lithium secondary battery may be manufactured in a cylindrical type, a prismatic type, or a pouch type.
The pouch type secondary battery 1 includes a
The
The
That is, in the state where the
In the secondary battery configured as described above, the
On the other hand, only one secondary battery may be mounted and used, but when a high output is required, a plurality of secondary batteries may be connected to form a battery module and a battery pack.
However, a battery module in which a plurality of secondary batteries is mounted and a battery pack in which a plurality of battery modules are combined may generate some voltage overcharging between individual secondary batteries when the battery pack is charged.
In addition, in recent years, in order to shorten the charging time, charging is performed at a high voltage, so that safety measures by overvoltage input or overcurrent input are required. For example, when overcharging occurs, pressure increases inside the pouch 10 (that is, the pouch swells due to evaporation of electrolyte inside the pouch due to overcharging), or the electrode assembly rises to a ignition temperature, thereby causing a risk of fire or explosion. There was this.
Therefore, since the safety of the secondary battery becomes more vulnerable toward higher capacity / high energy, development of a secondary battery capable of ensuring safety against overcharging is required.
Accordingly, the present invention has a primary purpose to provide a secondary battery having improved stability so that ignition and explosion can be prevented even during overcharging according to the development demand as described above.
The present invention for achieving the above object, the electrode assembly is built in the pouch and the electrode tab (anode tab, cathode tab) of the electrode assembly is connected to one end of the lead (cathode lead, anode lead) and the other end of the lead In the secondary battery extending to the outside of the silver pouch, the first electrode, the second electrode and the separator is configured to be laminated repeatedly, the first electrode tab extending from the first electrode and the second electrode extending from the second electrode An electrode assembly having a two electrode tab; A pouch in which an edge is welded along a circumference of the electrode assembly to form a fusion portion; A first lead connected to the first electrode tab at one end thereof and protruding out of the pouch through the fusion unit; A first relay connected to the first electrode and the second electrode of the electrode assembly and coupled to the first lead to block an input current when a potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode is greater than or equal to a predetermined reference; And a second lead having one end connected to the second electrode tab and the other end protruding out of the pouch through the fusion unit.
The first electrode may be any one of a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and the second electrode may be the other. In the embodiment of the present invention, the first electrode is an anode and the second electrode will be described as being a negative electrode.
The first relay is located inside the pouch.
In addition, the second lead includes a first heat generating induction part having a smaller cross sectional area than the other part passing through the fusion part, and when the current flows in the second lead more than a reference current amount, the first heat generating induction part is Heat to melt the fusion is generated, and the fusion is melted by the heat.
In an embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of holes are drilled in a portion where the fusion portion is located in the second lead to form a first heat generation induction portion.
The predetermined criterion of the potential difference at which the first lead cuts off the current according to the present invention is preferably set within the range of 4.6 to 5.5V.
In addition, the present invention is connected to the first electrode and the second electrode of the electrode assembly through the first and second surveillance, respectively, when the potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode is less than a predetermined reference first A second relay for separating the electrode and the second electrode and passing the first electrode and the second electrode when the predetermined reference or more is exceeded, further comprising at least one of the first and second sub A portion disposed to penetrate or be inserted therein and positioned at the fusion portion includes a second heat generation induction part for generating heat when energized, and when the second relay energizes the first electrode and the second electrode, Heat to melt the welded portion is generated, and the melted welded portion is opened by the heat. In this case, it is preferable that a predetermined criterion of the potential difference for energizing the first electrode and the second electrode is also set within the range of 4.6 to 5.5V.
The second relay may be disposed outside or outside the pouch side by side in the same direction as the second lead according to the size and shape of the secondary battery.
On the other hand, the pouch according to the present invention is made of polypropylene melted or heat deformation occurs in the 130 to 170 ℃ range.

Since the first relay is coupled to the first lead so that the charging of the electrode assembly is completed, overcharge is blocked. Since the first relay is mounted inside the pouch, the outer surface of the pouch may be kept flat.
In addition, the second lead is configured with a first heat generation induction part, and when the current flows more than the reference current amount, the fusion part may be opened to discharge gas, thereby preventing explosion due to internal gas generation.

FIG. 2 is a plan view illustrating the internal appearance of the pouch type secondary battery according to the first embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, the
The
That is, one end of the
The
The
On the other hand, the
When the first heat generating
In this embodiment, the first heat generating
Second embodiment
In addition, the present invention further provides a second embodiment in which the
FIG. 2 is a plan view illustrating the inside of the pouch type secondary battery according to the first embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a plan view illustrating a state in which a second relay is disposed outside the pouch.
As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, in this embodiment, a
The second heat generating
The
Meanwhile, the
For reference, the secondary battery of the present invention is based on a case where a plurality of battery packs are mounted on an electric vehicle, and a predetermined reference of a potential difference at which the
Since the secondary battery of the present invention having the configuration as described above has the
In addition, in the present invention, a
In addition, when the
In addition, according to the position of the second heat generating
Although the present invention has been described above by means of limited embodiments and drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the technical concept of the present invention and the following will be described by those skilled in the art to which the present invention pertains.
